Kilinjalgal
''Kilinjalgal'' () is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language romance film, written and directed by Durai. The film stars Mohan, Poornima Bhagyaraj and Dilip. It revolves around two lovers whose romance is opposed by their families due to differences in religion. ''Kilinjalgal'' was released on 25 December 1981. The film was a silver jubilee hit and ran for 175 days at the box office. Plot Babu, a Hindu, falls in love with Julie, a Christian. However, both the families are against this love due to differences in religion. Despite heavy opposition, both Babu and Julie and remain adamant in their decision. Julie's father Stephen locks her in a room while Babu's father Manikkam also does not permit him to move out of his home. To everyone's shock, Julie commits suicide. Durai (born 25 February 1940) is an Indian film director who was mostly active during the 1970s. As of 2014, he has directed 46 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. Though known for his work in commercial cinema, he made women-centric films like '' Avalum Penthaane'' and ''Pasi'', which won two National Film Awards. He served as a jury member of the 58th National Film Awards (India) in 2011. As of 2011, he was the vice president of the South Indian Film Writers' Association. Revati is a rāgam in Carnatic music (musical scale of South Indian classical music). It is an ''audava'' rāgam (or ''owdava'' rāgam, meaning pentatonic scale). It is a ''janya'' rāgam (derived scale), as it does not have all the seven ''swaras'' (musical notes). Christianity in the state of Tamil Nadu, India is the second largest religion in the state. According to tradition, St. Thomas, one of the twelve apostles, landed in Malabar Coast (modern day Kerala) in AD 52. Sukumari
Sukumari Amma (6 October 1940 – 26 March 2013) was an Indian actress best known for her works in Malayalam and Tamil films. In a career spanning more than five decades, She has appeared in more than 2500 films predominantly in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, along with few Hindi and one each in Sinhala, French, Bengali, Tulu, English and Kannada films. Sukumari began acting at the age of 10. In 2003, she was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her contributions toward the arts.
