Fred Kilgour
Frederick Gridley Kilgour (January 6, 1914 – July 31, 2006) was an American librarian and educator known as the founding director of OCLC (Online Computer Library Center), an international computer library network and database. He was its president and executive director from 1967 to 1980. Biography Born in Springfield, Massachusetts to Edward Francis and Lillian Piper Kilgour, Kilgour earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Harvard College in 1935 and afterward held the position as assistant to the director of Harvard University Library. In 1940, he married Eleanor Margaret Beach, who had graduated from Mount Holyoke College and taken a job at the Harvard College Library, where they met. David Kilgour
David William Kilgour (February 18, 1941 – April 5, 2022) was a Canadian human rights activist, author, lawyer, and politician. He was also a Senior Fellow to the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights. Kilgour graduated from the University of Manitoba in economics in 1962 and the University of Toronto law school in 1966. From crown attorney in northern Alberta to Canadian Cabinet minister, Kilgour ended his 27-year tenure in the House of Commons of Canada as an Independent MP. Upon retirement, he was one of the longest serving members of parliament and one of few who had been elected under both the Progressive Conservative and Liberal banners. David Auld Kilgour (born ) is a New Zealand songwriter, musician and recording artist from Dunedin. He first started playing guitar as a teenager in the late 1970s. With brother Hamish he formed The Clean, a group that went on to become one of the most popular and most respected bands in New Zealand. Early life and family Born in Ranfurly, Kilgour is the son of McGregor Kilgour and Helen Stewart Kilgour (née Auld). He was educated at Otago Boys' High School from 1974 to 1976. Hamish Kilgour
Hamish Kilgour (17 March 1957 – November or December 2022) was a New Zealand musician who co-founded the indie rock band The Clean with his brother David in 1978. Kilgour also co-founded the band Bailter Space in 1987 and later recorded as a solo artist. Career Kilgour was born in Christchurch on 17 March 1957. After the Clean broke up, Kilgour co-founded the Christchurch space rock band Bailter Space in 1987, and recorded the ''Nelsh Bailter Space'' EP and ''Tanker'' album with the band. In the late 1980s, while on a promotional tour with Bailter Space in New York City, Kilgour decided to remain in the city and leave left the band. While in New York, Kilgour co-founded the band The Mad Scene in the early 1990s with guitarist and bassist Lisa Siegel. Darris Kilgour
Darris Kilgour is a former professional lacrosse player and coach. Kilgour currently is the head coach of the Seneca WarChiefs ( FNJBLL). He is from the Tuscarora Indian Reservation near Lewiston New York. Player Kilgour played for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League for eight seasons, before finishing his playing career with the Rochester Knighthawks and Albany Attack. As a player, he won three championships with the Bandits, and is the all-time team leader in penalty minutes and faceoffs. Kilgour's number '43' was retired by the Bandits in March 2001, making him the first player to have his number retired by an NLL team. He was inducted into the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame in 2007. Margaret "Maggie" Kilgour (born 1957) is a Molson professor of English Language and Literature at McGill University. In 2015, she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Education Kilgour earned her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto and her PhD at Yale University. Joseph Kilgour (11 July 1863 – 21 April 1933) was a Canadian actor of the silent film era. He was a well-known veteran stage actor in Broadway theatre before entering silent films. He appeared in more than 50 films between 1909 and 1926. Kilgour was born in Ayr, Ontario, Canada to Joseph Kilgour Sr. and Mary Anderson, who married 29 September 1856. Kilgour was one of seven children of the general store owner. Kilgour left Ayr and moved to the United States to pursue his acting career. Kilgour retired from acting and died in Long Island, New York in 1933. Robert Kilgour
Robert Kilgour (1714–1790) was a Scottish clergyman who served in the Scottish Episcopal Church as Bishop of Aberdeen from 1768 to 1786 and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church from 1782 to 1788. He was an outspoken supporter of the Jacobite cause. Rich Kilgour (born January 14, 1969) is a retired professional lacrosse player and current coach for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League. He joined the Bandits in 1992 as a training camp invitee, and spent the next 18 years as a defensive specialist with the Bandits, 12 of those as team captain. His teams made the playoffs 13 times, played in eight championship games, and won four. A Niagara Falls, New York native, Kilgour played lacrosse and football at Niagara-Wheatfield High School, and attended Nazareth College from 1988 to 1990. Mary Stewart Kilgour (24 September 1851 – 1955) was a suffragist, educationalist, writer and campaigner for women's rights. Family Kilgour was one of 13 children born to a Scottish physician, Dr John Stewart Kilgour (1815 – 1902), and Susan Anne (née Archer). Kilgour was born in Longford, Van Dieman’s Land (now Tasmania) in 1851. Her family returned to Britain in 1854, living in Worcester, London, Exmouth and the Isle of Man before settling in Cheltenham in around 1860. Work In 1882, Kilgour collaborated with Annie Leigh Browne, Browne's sister Mary (later Lady Lockyer) and Henrietta Müller to found College Hall, London. Donald Kilgour (born 16 April 1946) is a former Australian politician. He was the National member for Shepparton in the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1991 to 2002. Kilgour was born in Numurkah, Victoria, to Leonard Leslie Kilgour and Jean Venables. He was educated at Katamatite Primary School, Numurkah High School and Lee Murray Radio College before becoming a radio announcer on 3UL Warragul in 1965. Rear Admiral Niall Stuart Roderick Kilgour, (born 4 March 1950) is a former Royal Navy officer who served as Commander Operations and Rear Admiral, Submarines. Naval career Educated at Hazelwood School and later Pangbourne College, Kilgour joined the Royal Navy in 1968 and had a distinguished career as a submariner. On leaving submarines, he went on to be Commanding Officer of the frigates and – the latter of which came with the post of Captain of the 6th Frigate Squadron. In 1998 he was appointed as Commander Amphibious Task Group, and became Commander Operations.
