Kiki Stockhammer (born ) is an American spokesperson. She became well known in the late 1980s as a trade show "traffic stopper" first doing live demonstrations of the capabilities of the Video Toaster from NewTek. She was the premiere operator of this product that innovated in the field of desktop video, and her image was embedded within the product as her silhouette formed the basis for several innovative animated transitions. She reportedly had an unnamed managerial position in the development line of the product. She was known for her ability to deliver corporate statements without a script. In 1994, Stockhammer followed NewTek cofounder Paul Montgomery to form Play Inc. Her image was the first picture of the company's first product, Snappy. She became Technological Evangelist for the new product, Trinity, that spent several years in development. Video Toaster
The NewTek Video Toaster is a combination of hardware and software for the editing and production of NTSC standard-definition video. The plug-in expansion card initially worked with the Amiga 2000 computer and provides a number of BNC connectors on the exposed rear edge that provide connectivity to common analog video sources like VHS VCRs. The related software tools support video switching, chroma keying, character generation, animation, and image manipulation. Together, the hardware and software provided, for a few thousand U.S. dollars, a video editing suite that rivaled the output of contemporary (i.e. early 1990s) professional systems costing ten times as much. Desktop video refers to a phenomenon lasting from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s when the graphics capabilities of personal computers such as Commodore's Amiga, the Apple Macintosh II and specially-upgraded IBM PC compatibles had advanced to the point where individuals and local broadcasters could use them for analog non-linear editing (NLE) and vision mixing in video production. Paul Montgomery
Joseph Paul Montgomery (June 5, 1960 – June 19, 1999 ) was an American entrepreneur and inventor. In the mid 1980s, he was among the first to see the potential of personal computer technology in the field of video production and 3D animation. As Vice President of NewTek and Co-Founder and President of Play, Inc., Montgomery drove the creation of the first widely-successful digital video products, including the Emmy-award-winning Video Toaster and the Snappy Video Snapshot. In the 1996 book, ''The Age of Videography,'' Montgomery was cited as one of the 25 most influential people in the history of videography.
