Kieran Charnock
Kieran James Charnock (born 3 August 1984) is an English footballer who plays as a defender. Career Born in Preston, Lancashire, Charnock began his career at Wigan Athletic, coming through the club's youth system. However, he failed to establish himself in the squad and was sent out on loan to Southport. Charnock was released by Wigan quickly moving on to Football Conference side Northwich Victoria. He became an important part of the team forming a partnership with Mark Roberts and was chosen for the England non-League team. At the end of the 2006–07 season Charnock requested a transfer away from Northwich Victoria in search of league football and was sold to Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee. Following a successful loan in the 2008–09 season with Accrington Stanley, he moved to Torquay United at the start of the subsequent season. Preston () is a city on the north bank of the River Ribble in Lancashire, England. The National League North, formerly Conference North, is a division of the National League in England, immediately below the National League division. The 2005–06 season was the 27th season of the Football Conference. Overview This season saw the return of Accrington Stanley (albeit as a reformed club) and Hereford United to the Football League. Accrington replaced Oxford United, who had replaced them when they resigned from the League in 1962. Northwich Victoria, Stafford Rangers and Weymouth returned to the Conference National, the latter for the first time since 1989, whilst St Albans City won promotion to the fifth tier for the first time. FA Trophy
The Football Association Challenge Trophy, commonly known as the FA Trophy, is a men's football knockout cup competition run by and named after the English Football Association and competed for primarily by semi-professional teams. The competition was instigated in 1969 to cater to those non-league clubs that paid their players and were therefore not eligible to enter the FA Amateur Cup. Eligibility rules have changed over time, but from 2008 onwards the competition has been open to clubs playing in Steps 1–4 of the National League System, equivalent to tiers 5–8 of the overall English football league system. The National League, known as the Vanarama National League for sponsorship reasons, is the highest level of the National League System and fifth-highest of the overall English football league system. The 2002–03 Football Conference season was the 24th season of the Football Conference. Overview This season the number of teams promoted to the Football League Division Three was increased from one to two, and play-offs were introduced to determine the second team to be promoted, along with the Conference champions. The bottom three, as usual, were relegated to either the Northern Premier League, the Southern Premier League or the Isthmian League. Yeovil Town clinched the league title and won promotion to the Football League Division Three. Doncaster Rovers also earned promotion to Division Three following their 3–2 play-off win over Dagenham & Redbridge, during extra time with a sudden death goal in the 110th minute.
