Kidder, Missouri
Kidder is a city in northwest Caldwell County, Missouri, The population was 267 at the 2020 census. The city was laid out in 1860 by H.B. Kidder of the Kidder Land Company in Boston, which was seeking to encourage non-slave owning European immigrants to settle along the Hannibal and St. Joseph Railroad which at the time was the furthest west railroad in the United States. The city received national publicity in 2004 after a student at the Thayer Learning Center in the community died after not receiving treatment early enough. In 2009 the Center was sold to become the White Buffalo Academy. The campus was formerly Thayer College and Thayer High School. Thayer College was founded in 1871 and closed in 1876. It reopened in 1877 as the Kidder Institute and operated under the auspices of the Congregational Church of Missouri. The building was used as a public school from 1934 to 1981. Kidder Township, Pennsylvania
Kidder Township is a township in Carbon County, Pennsylvania. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The population was 1,935 at the 2010 census, up from 1,185 at the 2000 census. History On October 10, 1888, a train wreck known as the Mud Run Disaster occurred on the Lehigh Valley Railroad which runs through the township. 66 people were killed, most members of the Total Abstinence Union returning from a rally. Geography Kidder Township occupies the northern end of Carbon County and is bordered by Luzerne County to the north and west and by Monroe County to the east. It is drained by the Lehigh River, which separates it from Luzerne County. Tobyhanna Creek, a tributary of the Lehigh, forms the northern half of the township's eastern border. Kidder Mountain
Kidder Mountain is a summit located in south-central New Hampshire within the Wapack Range of mountains. It lies within New Ipswich and Temple, New Hampshire just off the Wapack Trail on a side trail. Temple Mountain is located directly to the north along the Wapack ridgeline; Barrett Mountain to the south. The summit of the mountain is mostly open and offers expansive views from old pastures. The east side of the mountain drains into the Souhegan River watershed, thence into the Merrimack River and Atlantic Ocean; the west side drains into the Gridley River, thence the Contoocook River into the Merrimack River.
