''Kick at the Darkness'' is a tribute album to Canadian singer-songwriter Bruce Cockburn, released in 1991. The title comes from a line in the song " Lovers in a Dangerous Time": "gotta kick at the darkness 'til it bleeds daylight". The album was released on Intrepid Records. The Barenaked Ladies' rendition of "Lovers in a Dangerous Time" was their first significant chart hit in Canada, reaching No. 16 the week of February 15, 1992. An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as digital distribution. Bob Wiseman
Robert Neil "Bob" Wiseman (born 1962) is a film composer, songwriter, author and music teacher. Wiseman discovered or produced many artists including Ron Sexsmith, The Lowest of the Low, Bruce McCulloch of Kids in the Hall, Anhai, and former Canadian member of parliament Andrew Cash. He is a founding member of Blue Rodeo with whom he won 5 Juno Awards. Career In the 1980s Wiseman played at open stages in Toronto where he started producing friends Bob Snider, Kyp Harness, Ron Sexsmith, Sahara Spracklin and Sam Larkin. He joined Blue Rodeo in 1984 and quit in 1992 to follow a solo career. Wiseman's songs often incorporate new musical elements and explicit political themes. Skydiggers are a Canadian roots rock band from Toronto formed by Andy Maize and Josh Finlayson. Since 1990, they have released 19 albums/EPs and have had a number of singles that have appeared on the Canadian charts. Their most successful album is ''Restless'', released in 1992. Intrepid Records was a Canadian independent record label founded in Toronto, Ontario. People associated with the label included founder Stuart Ravenhill and A&R rep Graham Stairs. Artists who recorded for Intrepid included National Velvet, Rheostatics, Meryn Cadell, The Bookroom, Martha and the Muffins, Rail T.E.C., Squiddly, Stranger Than Fiction, Cottage Industry, and KCC & Dance Speak.
