He first gained recognition as a grime producer before building a reputation for his bashment-influenced flow and versatility. Career Scrufizzer, a member of the production group Funkystepz, released his first mixtape entitled ''My First Steps'' in 2007. With support ranging from Zane Lowe and Annie Mac to Dizzee Rascal, Ed Sheeran and Wiley, Scrufizzer has gone on to perform with top names, including Wiley and DJ Cameo as well as opening for Kendrick Lamar in shows across the UK. BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ, DJ Cameo, joined the Kendrick Lamar tour as Scrufizzer's DJ, and has called Scrufizzer his protégé. British hip hop, also known as UK hip hop or UK rap, is a genre of music, and a culture that covers a variety of styles of hip hop music made in the United Kingdom. It is generally classified as one of a number of styles of R&B/Hip-Hop. British hip hop can also be referred to as Brit-hop, a term coined and popularised mainly by ''British Vogue'' magazine and the BBC. Hip house, also known as rap house or house rap, is a musical genre that mixes elements of house music and hip hop, that originated in both London, United Kingdom and Chicago, United States in the mid to late 1980s. British group the Beatmasters' "Rok da House" is known to be the very first hip house record, having been written and pressed to vinyl in August 1986. Other early hip house records by British artists include " Pump Up the Volume" by MARRS and "Beat Dis" by Bomb the Bass, both from 1987. History Minor controversy ensued in 1988 when a U.S. record called "Turn Up the Bass" by Tyree featuring Kool Rock Steady claimed it was the "first hip house record on vinyl". Deep House
Deep house is a subgenre of house music that originated in the 1980s, initially fusing elements of Chicago house with the lush chords of 1980s jazz-funk and touches of soul music. Its origins are attributed to the early recordings of Larry Heard (aka Mr. Fingers), including his influential track " Can You Feel It". Characteristics Deep house is known for tempos typically from 110 to 125 bpm, muted basslines, spacious use of percussion elements (typically using a Roland TR-909 drum machine), soft keyboard sounds (pads), use of advanced chord structures, ambient mixes, and soulful vocals. Lyrics usually focus on positive/uplifting themes or more melancholic subjects akin to blues. Black Butter Records is a British record label based in London, England. It was founded in 2010 by Olly Wood, Henry Village and Joe Gossa, with an investment of £5,000, and was named after a brand of condiments that had the same name. It was intended initially as an outlet for musicians who were signed to their artist management company, Stackhouse Management, and as a reaction against other labels that were "genre specific". The label releases mostly singles, and has put out the first releases of artists including Clean Bandit, Rudimental, (both later signed with Warner) and Jessie Ware (later signed with Universal).
