Kick Axe
Kick Axe is a Canadian heavy metal band from Regina, Saskatchewan. Influenced by rambunctious arena rock from the 70s and early 80s, the group is perhaps best known for their 1984 album ''Vices'', praised by publications such as AllMusic for its "down-and-dirty guitar riffs" and notably managing to crack the American market. The band achieved moderate commercial success in the mid-1980s on the strength of the singles "Heavy Metal Shuffle", "On the Road to Rock", "With a Little Help from My Friends" and "Rock the World". Following the release of their 1986 album '' Rock the World'', Kick Axe disbanded and remained on hiatus for many years. In 2004, they re-emerged with the album '' Kick Axe IV''. The band's "classic" mid-1980s lineup consisted of George Criston (vocals), Larry Gillstrom (lead guitar), Raymond Harvey (lead guitar), Brian Gillstrom (drums), and Victor Langen (bass guitar). Rock The World (Kick Axe Album)
''Rock the World'' is the third studio album by Canadian heavy metal band Kick Axe. The album was released at the end of 1986 in the format of vinyl and cassette album on Epic Records, distributed through CBS in the band's native Canada. In 1987, the Roadrunner Records released it on vinyl in the Netherlands and the smaller label Mercenary Records released it on vinyl, cassette and compact disc in the USA later the same year. That CD was a much sought-after collectible, going for as much as over $150 on eBay. In 2005, the band remastered and reissued the album on CD (albeit with different cover artwork), on their own label. Included is a bonus track "Piece of the Rock", a leftover from the Vices recording session in early 1984. The ''Pepsi Power Hour'' was a live one-hour program that aired on the MuchMusic television channel in Canada from 1986 to 1991. It ran once weekly every Thursday, until 1989 when a Tuesday hour was added. The show was dedicated to hard rock and heavy metal music videos, and showcased a variety of well and lesser-known artists. It balanced coverage of major international acts, with newer bands, and a variety of Canadian acts both major label and independent. Much (an abbreviation for its full name MuchMusic) is a Canadian English language specialty channel owned by BCE Inc. through its Bell Media subsidiary that airs programming aimed at teenagers and young adults. 30 Days In The Hole
"30 Days in the Hole" is a song by English rock band Humble Pie. Released in late 1972, it was composed by the band's guitarist/singer Steve Marriott for the group's fifth album '' Smokin''' (1972). The song received minor airplay at the time but failed to chart. However, it gained a following on album oriented rock (AOR) and classic rock radio formats and consequently it remains one of Humble Pie's best known songs. The B-side on its US release was "Sweet Peace and Time", while everywhere else the B-side featured " C'mon Everybody" and "Road Runner". The song, a Steve Marriott composition, bemoans being arrested for possession of small quantities of illegal drugs, including cocaine; Durban poison, a potent strain of marijuana; and Red Lebanese and Black Nepalese, two types of hashish. Humble Pie are an English rock band formed by guitarist and singer Steve Marriott in Moreton, Essex, in 1969. Compact Cassette Tape Types And Formulations
Audio compact cassettes use magnetic tape of three major types which differ in fundamental magnetic properties, the level of bias applied during recording, and the optimal time constant of replay equalization. Specifications of each type were set in 1979 by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). By this time, Type I (IEC I, 'ferric' or 'normal' tapes) included pure gamma ferric oxide formulations, Type II (IEC II, or 'chrome' tapes) included ferricobalt and chromium dioxide formulations, and Type IV (IEC IV, or 'metal' tapes) included metal particle tapes—the best-performing, but also the most expensive.
