Myrhorod ( uk, Ми́ргород, ) is a city in the Poltava Oblast (province) of central Ukraine. Serving as the administrative center of the Myrhorod Raion (district), the city itself is administratively incorporated as a city of oblast significance and does not belong to the raion. It is located on the Khorol River. Population: History The town was founded either in the 12th or 13th century as an eastern border fort of Kyivan Rus'. According to legend, the fort was a place of peace negotiations that gave it its name (literally the ''City of Peace''). From 1471 to 1667 the town was part of the Kyiv Voivodeship of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland. Pavlo Hryhorovych Tychyna ( uk, Павло Григорович Тичина; – September 16, 1967) was a major Ukrainian poet, translator, publicist, public activist, academician, and statesman. He composed the lyrics to the Anthem of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. Life Born in Pisky in 1891, he was baptized on January 27, which was mistakenly considered his birth date until recently. His father, Hryhoriy Timofiyovych Tychynin, was a village deacon and a teacher in the local grammar school. His mother, Maria Vasylivna Tychynina (Savytska), was eleven years younger than Pavlo's father. Pavlo had nine siblings: five sisters and four brothers. At first young Tychyna studied at the district's elementary school which was opened in Pisky in 1897. His first teacher was Serafima Morachevska who later recommended him to try his talent in chorus. Chervona is a multi-ethnic, Russian and Eastern European-inspired band from Portland, Oregon, that formed in 2006. They have become known for their old world-inspired music and their highly energetic live shows. Much of the band's repertoire consists of revamped classics of Russian folk songs as well as klezmer songs from the Black Sea region of Odessa. Lypova Dolyna
Lypova Dolyna ( uk, Липова Долина) is an urban-type settlement in Romny Raion of Sumy Oblast in eastern Ukraine. Population: History The date of establishment of the town Lypova Dolyna is not known, but it was first mentioned sometime in 17th century as a village of Magnate Jeremi Wiśniowiecki in Kiev Voivodeship. Its name Lypova Dolyna (Linden Valley) has derived from local river Lypivka. In 1647 the village contained 150 dwelling yards (households). The population of the village actively participated in the Khmelnytsky Uprising after which it became part of Myrhorod Regiment (one of administrative divisions of Cossack Hetmanate). In 1658 Lypova Dolyna was raided by Tatars. Later it was a private estate of various Cossack officers (starshina).
