Khoa Do
Khoa Do (Vietnamese: ''Đỗ Khoa'', ), is a film director, screenwriter, and philanthropist. He received the Young Australian of the Year Award in 2005. Early life and family The Do family left Vietnam in 1980 as Vietnamese refugees, fleeing Saigon by boat. At the age of 18 months, Khoa narrowly escaped death at the hands of Thai pirates. They arrived in Sydney in August 1980. Do received a scholarship to attend St Aloysius' College in Milsons Point, graduating in 1996. He studied Law and Arts at the University of Sydney. His brother is the comedian/author Anh Do. His mother, Hien, played the role of Van Nguyen's mother, Kim, in '' Better Man'' (2013), a film which he produced. Philanthropy Do has been active in helping the under-privileged in South Western Sydney, especially the Vietnamese community. The Inside Film Awards (now known as the IF Awards) is an annual awards ceremony and broadcast platform for the Australian film industry, developed by the creators of Inside Film Magazine, Stephen Jenner and David Barda, and originally produced for television by Australian Producer Andrew Dillon. The awards are determined by a national audience poll, which differentiates it from the Australian AACTA Awards, which are judged by industry professionals. The event is held in November each year, and is broadcast on SBS television and showtime movie channels. The IF Awards were first held in 1999, and until 2006 were also known as the Lexus Inside Film Awards, in recognition of its principal sponsor Lexus. National Australia Day Council
The National Australia Day Council (NADC) is a non-profit social enterprise owned by the Australian Government and is the national coordinating body for the Australian of the Year awards and Australia Day. It was established in 1979 and incorporated as a government-owned business in 1990. Australian Natives' Association was one of the chief promoters of Australia Day as a national holiday, and in 1946 formed an Australia Day Celebrations Committee in Melbourne to formalise its efforts. Cabramatta ('Cabra') is a suburb in south-western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia.
