Khilkhet Thana ( bn, খিলক্ষেত থানা) is a ''thana'' (sub-district) of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was created in 2005. Geography Khilkhet Thana has a total area of . It is bounded on the east by the Turag River (across which lies Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj District). It borders Dhakshinkhan and Uttar Khan thanas to the north, Badda Thana to the south, Cantonment Thana to the west, and Biman Bandar Thana to the northwest. Nearest residential area of Khilkhet thana building is Nikunja-1 and Nikunja-2. History Administration of Khilkhet Thana was established on 27 June in 2005 that consists of south parts of Badda thana. Before, this area was under the administration of Badda thana. Dakshinkhan Adarsha ( bn, দক্ষিণখান আদর্শ, Dokkhinkhan Adorsho) is a union parishad of Dhaka Metropolitan North, Dhaka District, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is bounded by Gazipur Sadar Upazila on the north, Khilkhet Thana on the south, Uttarkhan Thana on the east and uttara and Shahjalal International Airport on the west. Population 5,29,500 (Approximate). Average literacy 68.87%; male 73.57%, female 63.06%. History Dakshinkhan Thana was formed in 2006. The thana was named after ''Dakshinkhan Adarsha Union Parishad''. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. Ahmed Hasan Dani, a noted Muslim historian and archaeologist of Pakistan played an important role in founding this society. He was assisted by Muhammad Shahidullah, a Bengali linguist. An ''upazila'' ( bn, উপজেলা, upôzela, lit=sub-district pronounced: ), formerly called ''thana'', is an administrative region in Bangladesh, functioning as a sub-unit of a district. 2011 Bangladesh Census
In 2011, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, conducted a national census in Bangladesh, which provided a provisional estimate of the total population of the country as 142,319,000. The previous decennial census was the 2001 census. Data were recorded from all of the districts and upazilas and main cities in Bangladesh including statistical data on population size, households, sex and age distribution, marital status, economically active population, literacy and educational attainment, religion, number of children etc. Bangladesh and India also conducted their first joint census of areas along their border in 2011. According to the census, Hindus constituted 8.5 per cent of the population as of 2011, down from 9.6 per cent in the 2001 census. Bangladesh have a population of 144,043,697 as per 2011 census report.
