Khentei Range
The Khentei Range ( rus, Хэнтэй) is a mountain range in the Transbaikal Region (Zabaykalsky Krai) of Siberia, Russia. The range is part of the Trans-Baikal conifer forests ecoregion. The Sokhondo Nature Reserve is located in the area of the range. Geography The Khentei Range is part of the Khentei-Daur Highlands, South Siberian System. It rises on the right bank of the upper course of the Ingoda River and stretches roughly northeastwards for over until the source of the Bylir River, where it joins with the Stanovik Range. The maximum width of the range is . Glacial Lake
A glacial lake is a body of water with origins from glacier activity. They are formed when a glacier erodes the land and then melts, filling the depression created by the glacier. Formation Near the end of the last glacial period, roughly 10,000 years ago, glaciers began to retreat. A retreating glacier often left behind large deposits of ice in hollows between drumlins or hills. As the ice age ended, these melted to create lakes. This is apparent in the Lake District in Northwestern England where post-glacial sediments are normally between 4 and 6 metres deep. These lakes are often surrounded by drumlins, along with other evidence of the glacier such as moraines, eskers and erosional features such as striations and chatter marks. Golets ( rus, голец), plural Goltsy ( rus, Гольцы), is a type of bald mountain summit of certain areas of Siberia. The term is part of the geographical name of several peaks in the region. Description ''Golets'' protrude above the treeline and are usually round or blunt. They are barren, rocky or stony, and only rarely lichens or stunted small scrubs such as Siberian pine, may grow on them. Bare rock slopes, kurums and cliffs are common.
