The ''khene'' (; spelled "Can" in English; Lao language, Lao: wikt:ແຄນ, ແຄນ; th, wikt:แคน, แคน, , ; km, wikt:គែន, គែន - ''Ken''; Vietnamese language, Vietnamese: ''khèn'') is a Lao mouth organ whose pipes, which are usually made of bamboo, are connected with a small, hollowed-out hardwood reservoir into which air is blown. The khene is the national instrument of Laos. The khene music is an integral part of Lao life that promotes family and social cohesion and it was inscribed in 2017 on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity''.'' Although it is associated with the Lao people of Laos and Isan (Northeast Thailand) nowadays, other similar instruments date back to the Bronze Age. Khen Dynasty
The Khen dynasty (also Khyen dynasty) of Assam was a late medieval dynasty of erstwhile Kamata kingdom. After the fall of the Pala dynasty of Kamrupa, the western region was reorganized into Kamata kingdom, when Sandhya moved his capital from Kamarupanagara to Kamatapur in about 1257, due to the frequent clashes with the Kacharis from the east. Sandhya styled himself ''Kamateswara'' and the kingdom came to be known as "Kamata". The Khen dynasty at a later period took control of the kingdom. Origin According to the ''Gosani Mangala'' (1823), the Khen rulers had a humble origin, implying that they were probably local chieftains that rose to power after the fall of the Palas. Ethnically, the Khen rulers belonged to a Tibeto-Burman ethnolinguistic group. Ethnicity of Khen is not known precisely but may have been associated with Khyen of Indo-Burmese border or Kheng from the mountains. Khen Lampert (born 1957) is an Israel, Israeli educator and a philosopher, Professor of behavioral-sciences, who teaches Philosophy, History, Cultural Studies and Education. He has extensive experience working with children in underprivileged neighborhoods in Israel, both Jewish and Arab. Lampert is an important contributor to philosophy-of-culture and education. His work draws from a wide range of theoretical traditions extending from Karl Marx to Paulo Freire; from Buddhism to modern Christianity; from Herbert Marcuse to Heinz Kohut. Khen Shish
Khen Shish ( he, חן שיש; born 1970) is an Israeli painter and installation artist. Biography Khen Shish was born in Safed to parents of Tunisian-Jewish origin. She studied art at the Art Institute, Oranim Academic College, Tivon, receiving a BFA in 1995. After graduation, she spent several years in Europe, living in Paris, London, Rome, and Berlin. In 1998, she returned to Israel, and completed an MFA at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and the Hebrew University, Jerusalem (1997-1999). Shish is also a graduate of the New Seminar for Visual Culture, Criticism, and Theory, Camera Obscura School of Art, Tel Aviv (2000-2001). Art career Shish works in a wide range of techniques. Koo Luam Khen
Koo Luam Khen (or Khoo Luan Khen, , born 27 March 1951) is a Malaysian former footballer. A Malaysia national team player, he participated in the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. He was the former coach of Hong Kong national team, Hong Kong League teams Instant-Dict and Sun Hei. He won "Best Coach of the Year" in Hong Kong Top Footballer Awards 2003 and 2005. In 2004, he was inducted in Olympic Council of Malaysia's Hall of Fame for 1972 Summer Olympics football team.
