Khatri is a caste of the Indian subcontinent that is predominantly found in India, but also in Pakistan and Afghanistan. In the subcontinent, they were mostly engaged in mercantilistic professions such as banking and trade, they were the dominant commerical & financial administration class of Late-Medieval India some in Punjab often belonged to hereditary agriculturalist land-holding lineages, others were engaged in artisanal occupations such as silk production and weaving while some were scribes learned in Sanskrit and Persian too During the British colonial era, they also served as lawyers and engaged in administrative jobs in the colonial bureaucracy. Ravinder Khatri (born 15 May 1992) is an Indian Greco-Roman wrestler who competes in the 85 kg category. Early years Khatri was born on 15 May 1992 as the son of a farmer. He began wrestling at the akharas of his village, Bodia, located in Jhajjar district, Haryana. In 2006, he was selected by the Army Institute of Sport in Pune during a talent scouting event. He became a Junior commissioned officer for the Jat Regiment in 2011. Poonam Khatri is an Indian Wushu player, martial artist and athlete. She won a gold medal in invitational sports of Wushu at the 13th South Asian Games at Lalitpur in Nepal, in Women's Sanda 75 kg. Khatri won the gold medal at the 2019 World Wushu Championships in Shanghai, China in the Women's Sanda 75 kg category. Phupu Lhamu Khatri ( ne, फुपु लामु खत्री; born 5 October 1996) is a Nepali female judoka and Olympian. She won a gold medal for Nepal at the 2016 South Asian Games, and went on to bag the Female Player of the Year Award at the NSJF Pulsar Sports Award in the same year. Khatri has been playing for the senior team since 2012. She claimed a silver medal in Ranking Judo held in Hong Kong in 2015. Padma Bahadur Khatri (19 July 1915 – 1985) was a foreign minister of Nepal, and also served as an army officer and diplomat. He began his career as a soldier, and eventually attained the rank of Major General. He delivered Nepal's first application for membership of the United Nations in 1948, which was eventually accepted in 1955. He served as Nepal's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, from 1964 until at least 1971, and was twice the President of the Security Council when Nepal was a member of the Council in the 1970s.
