Kharan, Pakistan
Kharan ( bal, ھاران; ur, ) is a town in Kharan District, Balochistan, Pakistan. It is located at 28°35'0N 65°25'0E with an altitude of 692 metres (2273 feet). It is also division headquarters of Rakhshan Division. It is populated with many Baloch tribes and clans. Former Federal Shariat Court and Balochistan High Court chief justice Mohammad Noor Meskanzai belongs to this town. Demographics The total population of town in the 1981 Pakistan Census was recorded as 10,472 that increases up to 27,806 according to the Census of 1998. Kharan district ( bal, هاران/خاران; ur, ) is a district in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. Demographics At the time of the 2017 census the district had a population of 162,766, of which 84,631 were males and 78,135 females. Rural population was 111,378 (68.43%) while the urban population was 51,388 (31.57%). The literacy rate was 40.93% - the male literacy rate was 55.42% while the female literacy rate was 25.47%. 595 people in the district were from religious minorities. At the time of the 2017 census, 81.49% of the population spoke Balochi and 16.88% Brahui as their first language. The Kharan Desert ( ur, صحرائے خاران) is a sandy and mountainous desert situated in Balochistan province in south-western Pakistan.The desert covers an area of about 36,000 square kilometers, making it one of the largest deserts in Pakistan. The desert is known for its arid climate and harsh conditions, with high temperatures and very little rainfall. It is home to a variety of plantsTreeand animals that are adapted to the desert environment, including the fabled Kharan camel, which is native to the region. This desert was the site of Pakistan's second nuclear test, Chagai-II, which was carried out on 30 May 1998. The land is not fit for agriculture due to low irrigation. Halil River
Halīl River or HalīlRood (also ''Haliri River'', known as the ''Kharaw'' or ''ZarDasht River'' in its upper reaches) is a river stretching for some running in the Baft, Jiroft and Kahnuj districts of Kerman Province, Iran. The Halil rises at above sea level in the kuh-e shah mountain about to the north-east of Baft, flowing to the south-west until it is joined by the Zardasht and Rabor rivers. Turning towards the south, if flows along the foothills of the Bahr aseman mountains, then to the south-east until Jiroft Dam, which is high, about upstream of Jiroft () at the confluence with the Narab. It passes some east of Kahnuj and terminates in the Hamun-e Jaz Murian of Baluchistan.
