Khanpursar
Khanpursar is a shallow, non-mictic lake in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir in India. It lies 24 km north-west of Srinagar city in the village of Khanpur on the right bank of the Jehlum River. The famous Manasbal Lake lies 6 km in the north. Khanpursar is fed by springs and a few ephemeral channels and outflows into Jehlum River. The lake is mostly an oval shaped lake with a length of 400 meters and breadth of 300 meters. It has a maximum depth of 4 meters. Willow plantations and paddy cultivations are a part of its catchment area. Khanpursar is surrounded by a few villages. Khanpur village lies on the eastern side, while as Batpora and Guzhom lie on the southern and north-western sides, respectively. The lake is an important source of fish and the lotus-stem (nadru). Manasbal Lake
Manasbal Lake is a freshwater lake located in Safapora area of Ganderbal District in Jammu and Kashmir, India. Wular Lake
Wular Lake (), also known as Wolar () in Kashmiri, is one of the largest fresh water lakes in South Asia. It is located near Bandipora town in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The lake basin was formed as a result of tectonic activity and is fed by the Jhelum River and stream madhumati. The lake's size varies seasonally from 30 to 189 square kilometres. In addition, much of the lake has been drained as a result of willow plantations being built on the shore in the 1950s. Etymology In ancient times, Wular Lake was also called Mahapadmasar (Sanskrit: महापद्मसरः). Nilamata Purana also mentions it as ''Mahapadmasaras''. The lake, with its big dimensions and the extent of water, gives rise to high leaping waves in the afternoons, called Ullola in Sanskrit, meaning "stormy leaping, high rising waves". Nundkol Lake
The Nundkol Lake or Nund Kol also known as Nandi Kund and Kalodaka Lake is an oligotrophic alpine lake situated in Ganderbal district of the Kashmir Valley in Jammu and Kashmir, India. This lake is considered sacred by Hindus. Etymology The lake was originally called ''Nandi Kund'' meaning (Lake of Nandi). The term "Nundkol" also means ''Lake of Nandi''.
