Keyser High School
Keyser High School is a comprehensive four-year public high school located in Keyser, West Virginia, in Mineral County that operates as part of the Mineral County Schools District. History Piedmont High School was combined into Keyser High School in 1976. In the late 1990s, Keyser High School moved from its former location on East Piedmont Street, which had served as Keyser High for over 100 years, to a new facility approximately three miles south. In 2022 Keyser High was ranked #79 out of 116 West Virginia high schools by U.S. News. Keyser was also ranked #3 out of six high schools in the Cumberland, MD Metro Area. Keyser () is a city in and the county seat of Mineral County, West Virginia. It is part of the Cumberland, MD-WV Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 4,853 at the 2020 census. History Keyser, the county seat of Mineral County, is located on the North Branch of the Potomac River at its juncture with New Creek in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Throughout the centuries, the town went through a series of name changes, but was ultimately named after William Keyser, a Baltimore and Ohio Railroad official. The first local land grant was issued by Lord Fairfax to Christopher Beelor on March 20, 1752. The place was first called Paddy Town, for Patrick McCarty, an Irish immigrant who came to then-Hampshire County, Virginia, sometime after 1740. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. History The original West Virginia Constitution of 1863 established a system of free public schools. Frankfort High School (FHS) is a public high school in Ridgeley, West Virginia, United States. It is part of the Mineral County Schools district. History Frankfort High School was built as a result of the consolidation of Fort Ashby High School and Ridgeley High School, the doors of Frankfort opened in 1976, and the first graduating class was in 1977. John Martin Kruk (born February 9, 1961) is an American former professional baseball first baseman and outfielder.
