Kevin The Bold
Kevin the Bold was an American comic strip that premiered on October 1, 1950, with script and art work by Kreigh Collins. In the 1960s, however, he received script assistance from Jay Heavilin (1961) and Russell R. Winterbotham (1964-68). This well-written Sunday comic strip was published almost twenty years, telling the story about Kevin as an Irish agent under King Henry VIII of England in the 16th century. Kevin the Bold (1950–68) was a comic strip whose main character originally appeared as a supporting character in the comic strip Mitzi McCoy, a creation of Collins, which began as a Sunday comic strip on November 7, 1948, launched by the Newspaper Enterprise Association (NEA). Kreigh Collins (cartoonist)
Kreigh Taylor Collins (1908–1974), born in Davenport, Iowa, was an American cartoonist best known for the comic strip Kevin the Bold. As a young man, Kreigh Collins was encouraged by his parents to draw. He studied art at the Cincinnati Art Academy (1924–25), but left school to pursue a career as an artist. He traveled to France in the late 1920s, including to Paris where he engaged in painting. When he returned to the United States in 1931, the Great Depression was making it difficult to make money, but he worked as an illustrator, salesman, illustrator in advertising and landscape painter. Collins also made a name for himself as a magazine illustrator in the 1930s. In the 1930s, he also drew the ''Do You Know?'' panel, from September 2, 1935, to January 26, 1937. A jay is a member of a number of species of medium-sized, usually colorful and noisy, passerine birds in the Crow family, Corvidae. The evolutionary relationships between the jays and the magpies are rather complex. For example, the Eurasian magpie seems more closely related to the Eurasian jay than to the East Asian blue and green magpies, whereas the blue jay is not closely related to either. Mitzi McCoy
Mitzi McCoy was the first syndicated comic strip of Kreigh Collins, the creator of Kevin the Bold. Collins was 40 years old when he created (script and art) the Sunday comic strip Mitzi McCoy, in close collaboration with Ernest Lynn, editor of the syndicate NEA, who was happy to contribute with developing views. Mitzi McCoy made its debut on November 7, 1948, and was published in Sunday comic sections in newspapers until September 24, 1950. The comic strip was then reinvented as Kevin the Bold. The title character in Mitzi McCoy was a young society woman, daughter of a local tycoon in the small picturesque town of Freedom. The Newspaper Enterprise Association (NEA) is an editorial column and comic strip newspaper syndication service based in the United States and established in 1902. Henry VIII (28 June 149128 January 1547) was King of England from 22 April 1509 until his death in 1547. Henry is best known for his six marriages, and for his efforts to have his first marriage (to Catherine of Aragon) annulled.
