Kevin Wood (guitarist)
Kevin Wood (born September 16, 1961) is an American musician known for playing lead guitar in various Seattle-based bands he founded during the Grunge era in the Pacific Northwest. Early life Wood had younger brothers Brian and Andrew Wood. The Wood family lived the longest on Bainbridge Island, Washington, which is a short ferry ride from Seattle. All three brothers had musical aspirations, Kevin Wood played guitar, and both Andrew and Brian learned to sing. Over time, Kevin and his younger brothers formed several seminal Seattle bands including Malfunkshun, Mother Love Bone, The Fire Ants, and Devilhead. Malfunkshun (1980–1988) In 1980 Kevin co-founded Malfunkshun with his youngest brother and lead singer Andrew Wood and drummer Regan Hagar. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock, or alt-rock, is a category of rock music that emerged from the independent music underground of the 1970s and became widely popular in the 1990s. Green River (band)
Green River was an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984. Although the band had very little commercial impact outside their native Seattle, Green River were pioneers of the grunge music genre. The grunge style was featured both in Green River's own music and the music its members would create in future bands, including Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone, Temple of the Dog and Pearl Jam. Green River reunited for several live shows in 2008 and 2009. Reciprocal Recording
Reciprocal Recording was the name of a recording studio in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, United States that was founded in 1984 and officially closed in July 1991. History Chris Hanzsek and Tina Casale opened Reciprocal Recording in Seattle in 1984. It was originally located in an office suite next to a railroad switching yard in Seattle's Interbay neighborhood, and in 1985, the business moved to the "basement in Madrona" location. Later that year, Chris and Tina launched C/Z Records while both producing at Ironwood Studios Recording, and in March 1986 they released the " Deep Six" compilation. The Motels
The Motels are an American new wave band from Berkeley, California, that is best known for the singles "Only the Lonely" and "Suddenly Last Summer", each of which peaked at No. 9 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, in 1982 and 1983, respectively. In 1980, The Motels song " Total Control" reached No. 7 on the Australian chart (for two weeks), and their song "Danger" reached No. 15 on the French chart. Chad Channing (born January 31, 1967) is an American musician who is best known as the drummer of the grunge band Nirvana from 1988 until 1990, during which time they recorded and released their debut album ''Bleach''; he also appears on "Polly" in the follow-up album ''Nevermind''. Nirvana (band)

''Return to Olympus'' is the debut studio album by the American rock band Malfunkshun and the only album to feature both original vocalist Andrew Wood (later of Mother Love Bone) and Kevin Wood (later of Devilhead). The album was released after the band had disbanded and following the death of Andrew Wood from a drug overdose in 1990. Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam compiled the songs and released the album on his and Malfunkshun drummer Regan Hagar's label, Loosegroove Records. Stone Gossard
Stone Carpenter Gossard (born July 20, 1966) is an American musician who serves as a guitarist and songwriter for the rock band Pearl Jam. Along with Jeff Ament, Mike McCready, and Eddie Vedder, he is one of the founding members of the band. Gossard is also known for his work prior to Pearl Jam with the Seattle-based grunge bands Green River and Mother Love Bone. Gossard was also a member of the bands Temple of the Dog and Brad. In addition to his performing career, he has been active in the music industry as a producer and the owner of a record label and recording studio. Mother Love Bone
Mother Love Bone was an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1988. The band was active from 1988 to 1990. Frontman Andrew Wood's personality and lyrics helped to catapult the group to the top of the burgeoning late 1980s/early 1990s Seattle music scene. Wood died only days before the scheduled release of the band's debut album, ''Apple'', thus ending the group's hopes of success. The album was finally released a few months later. The U-Men
The U-Men was an American rock band, formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1980 and active until 1989. They toured extensively across the United States. Their musically "dirty" sound and off-the-wall sense of humor were a forerunner for the later grunge bands to come out of Seattle.
