Kevin Webb (rugby League)
Kevin Webb (born 26 June 1955) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer, who played for Parramatta and Eastern Suburbs of the New South Wales Rugby League Premiership (NSWRFL). Playing career Webb made his NSWRL debut in the final regular season round of the 1975 season. He played in the rest of Parramatta's finals games, with the club advancing to the minor semi finals - where they would lose to the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. Webb did not play in 1976. Webb made only one appearance in 1977 against Newtown and did not play in the 1978 regular season, however he made an appearance in Parramatta's 11-17 loss to Manly-Warringah in the minor semi finals. In 1979, Webb was promoted to a starting role at hooker and played substantially more games. In round 18, he scored the first try of his career in Parramatta's 22-19 win against the Penrith Panthers. Sydney Roosters
The Sydney Roosters are an Australian professional Rugby league, Rugby League Football Club based in the Eastern Suburbs (Sydney) and parts of inner Sydney. The club competes in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. The Roosters have won fifteen New South Wales Rugby League premiership, New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) and National Rugby League titles, and several other competitions. First founded as the Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club (ESDRLFC), it is the only club to have played in each and every season at the elite level, and since the 1970s has often been dubbed the glamour club of the league. 1981 NSWRFL Season
The 1981 New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership was the 74th season of Sydney's professional rugby league football competition, Australia's first. Twelve clubs, including six of 1908's foundation teams and another six from around Sydney competed for the J J Giltinan Shield and WD & HO Wills Cup during the season, which culminated in a grand final between the Parramatta and Newtown clubs. NSWRFL clubs also competed in the 1981 Tooth Cup and players from NSWRFL clubs were selected to represent the New South Wales team. Season summary In 1981 the "sin-bin" was introduced to rugby league in Australia, enabling referees to send players from the field for five or ten minute periods for minor or deliberate technical offences. The Canberra Raiders are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the national capital city of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. They have competed in Australasia's elite rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership since 1982. Russel Gartner (born 16 September 1955), also known by the nickname of "Frog eyes", is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. An international representative three-quarter, He played for Manly, Balmain and Easts in the NSWRFL premiership. 1982 NSWRFL Season
The 1982 NSWRFL season was the 75th season of professional rugby league football in Australia and saw the New South Wales Rugby Football League’s first expansion since 1967 with the introduction of the first two clubs from outside the Sydney area in over half a century: the Canberra Raiders and the Illawarra Steelers. Thus a total of 14 clubs (including 6 Sydney-based foundation teams, another 6 from Sydney, one from greater New South Wales, and one from the Australian Capital Territory) competed for the J.J. Giltinan Shield and newly-created Winfield Cup during the season, which culminated in a grand final between the Parramatta and Manly-Warringah clubs.
