Kevin Tolar
Kevin Anthony Tolar (born January 28, 1971) is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher. He played in parts of three seasons at the major league level for the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox. He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 9th round of the 1989 amateur draft. Tolar played his first professional season with their Rookie league Gulf Coast League White Sox in 1989, and his last with the independent Atlantic League's Long Island Ducks in 2006. He played his last affiliated season in 2005 for the Triple-A affiliates of the Arizona Diamondbacks (Tucson Sidewinders) and the Toronto Blue Jays (Syracuse SkyChiefs). In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum.
