Kevin Mullaney
Kenneth "Kevin" Mullaney (born 23 September 1954), or more commonly known as KC, is a former American–born Welsh professional darts player who competed in the British Darts Organisation in the 1980s. Career He competed in the 1982 World Masters, losing in the first round to John Joe O'Shea. He also played in the 1983 BDO World Darts Championship, but was defeated in the first round by Swedish player Stefan Lord. In 1985, Mullaney lost to Arnold Parke of Canada in the Windy City Open. John Joe O'Shea (darts Player)
John Joe O'Shea (born 28 November 1951) is an Irish former professional darts player. From Bantry in West Cork, he is one of the most successful Irish players in history, having won the Irish National Darts Organisation National Singles title on six occasions as well as having made numerous appearances for his country. Career O'Shea is a two-time winner of the Éire division of the News of the World Darts Championship, winning in 1983 and 1987. He represented Ireland in numerous WDF Europe Cup and WDF World Cup tournaments, most recently in 1996. He reached the last 16 of the singles at the 1982 WDF Europe Cup, losing to Cliff Lazarenko and the Quarter-Finals of the 1992 WDF Europe Cup singles, losing to eventual winner Phil Taylor. Winmau World Masters
The World Masters is one of the longest-running and most prestigious of the BDO/WDF tournaments, which began in 1974. The tournament is sponsored by darts board manufacturer, Winmau. The World Masters was unusual in darts in that its sets are the best of 3 legs (first to 2) rather than the standard best of 5 legs (first to 3). It was previously the final leg of the BDO's Grand Slam title of televised majors, along with the BDO World Darts Championship, International Darts League and World Darts Trophy, until the latter two tournaments were axed in 2008. The champion is referred to as the World Master. After the collapse of the British Darts Organisation in September 2020, the World Darts Federation announced plans to launch the WDF World Masters. British Darts Organisation
The British Darts Organisation (BDO) was a darts organisation founded on 7 January 1973 by Olly Croft. Made up of 66 member counties, it oversaw professional, semi-professional and amateur darts competitions in Britain. The BDO was a founder member of the World Darts Federation in 1976. It also staged a BDO World Darts Championship, World Professional Darts Championship from 1978 to 2020. In the early 1990s, a dispute between Olly Croft and the top darts players over the decline in TV coverage and sponsorship led to an acrimonious Split in darts, split in the game, with the players breaking away to form their own governing body which became the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).
