Kevin McGowan
Kevin Michael McGowan (born October 18, 1991) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Mets. Career New York Mets McGowan attended Nashua High School North in Nashua, New Hampshire, where he played four years of baseball at Holman Stadium and ice hockey. He was named the ''Nashua Telegraph'' Baseball Player of the Year as a high school senior. McGowan played college baseball at Franklin Pierce University. He was drafted by the New York Mets in the 13th round of the 2013 MLB Draft. McGowan was called up to the majors for the first time on August 13, 2017 after the Mets traded infielder Neil Walker to the Milwaukee Brewers. McGowan was demoted to the minors on August 17 without having appeared in a game. McGowan was recalled to the majors on August 22 after Steven Matz was placed on this disabled list. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. Neil Walker (baseball)
Neil Martin Andrew Walker (born September 10, 1985) is an American former professional baseball second baseman. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2009–2015), New York Mets (2016–17), Milwaukee Brewers (2017), New York Yankees (2018), Miami Marlins (2019), and Philadelphia Phillies (2020). Walker was drafted by his hometown Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round of the 2004 MLB draft, and made his MLB debut with them in 2009. He won a Silver Slugger Award in 2014. The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) is a professional independent baseball league based in the United States. It is an official MLB Partner League based in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States. The Atlantic League's corporate headquarters is located at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The Atlantic League operates in cities not served by Major League Baseball (MLB) or Minor League Baseball (MiLB) teams; most of its teams are within suburbs and exurbs too close to other teams in the organized baseball system to have minor league franchises of their own. The Sugar Land Space Cowboys are a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros Major League Baseball club. They are located in Sugar Land, Texas, part of the Greater Houston metropolitan area, and play their home games at Constellation Field. Designated for assignment (DFA) is a contractual term used in Major League Baseball (MLB). A player who is designated for assignment is immediately removed from the team's 40-man roster, after which the team must within seven days, return the player to the 40-man roster, place the player on waivers, trade the player, release the player, or outright the player from the 40-man roster into Minor League Baseball.
