Kevin Keegan (musician)
Kevin Keegan (1924–20 December 1978) was an Irish musician known for his traditional accordion music. Biography Keegan was born in Ballinasloe, County Galway in 1924. He toured the United States with The Aughrim Slopes Céilí Band in 1956 and stayed in the country, moving to Chicago that year. He later moved to San Francisco, California in 1970 where, along with his long-time friend and fellow accordion player Joe Cooley Joe Cooley (1924–20 December 1973) was an Irish musician known for his traditional accordion music. Biography Cooley was born in Peterswell, County Galway in 1924. Ballinasloe
Ballinasloe ( ; ) is a town in the easternmost part of County Galway in Connacht. Located at an ancient crossing point on the River Suck, evidence of ancient settlement in the area includes a number of Bronze Age sites. Built around a 12th-century castle, which defended the fording point, the modern town of Ballinasloe was "founded" in the early 13th century. As of the 2016 census, it was one of the largest towns in County Galway, with a population of 6,662 people.
