Playing career Considine started his career as a Canterbury junior from the Lakemba J.R.L.F.C. and was graded with Newtown in 1951. He went on to play nine seasons of first grade between 1952-1960 at Newtown, and was a prolific point scorer. He played 138 games for Newtown and scored 87 tries, kicked 93 goals for a total of 447 points. Considine scored 22 tries in 1954 and built up a great wing partnership with Ray Preston during this era. Kevin Considine played in the 1954 Grand Final and the 1955 Grand Final. Newtown Jets
The Newtown Jets are an Australian rugby league football club based in Newtown, a suburb of Sydney's inner west. They currently compete in the NSW Cup competition, having left the top grade after the 1983 NSWRFL season. Parramatta Eels
The Parramatta Eels are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta that competes in the National Rugby League. The Parramatta District Rugby League Football Club was formed in 1947, and their home ground was Parramatta Stadium (formerly Cumberland Oval). As of 2019, Parramatta's home ground stadium has been rebuilt and they now play as the co-tenants at Western Sydney Stadium, which sits on the same site that was once Parramatta Stadium. Ray Preston (rugby League)
Ray Preston (10 November 1929 − 15 November 2019) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s and 1950s. He was one of the game's most prolific try-scorers. Playing career He played eight seasons in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership for the Newtown club from 1949 to 1956. He played on the for the Newtown teams which won the 1954 and 1955 minor premierships, but lost both seasons' grand finals to Souths. During his eight seasons at Newtown, he played in over 100 games and he scored a record 107 tries. Preston started his career in the Newtown Juniors Lewisham Club. At the end of the 1954 NSWRFL season Preston played for Newtown on the wing in their grand final loss to South Sydney. The 1955 NSWRFL season was the 48th season of the New South Wales Rugby Football League. Ten teams from across Sydney competed for the NSWRFL Premiership J. J. Giltinan Shield during the season, which culminated in a replay of the previous year's Grand Final between the South Sydney and Newtown clubs. Season summary Halfway through the 1955 season Souths were in equal last place having won just three of nine matches.
