Kevin Aylward
Kevin Aylward (born August 24, 1960) is a Canadians, Canadian businessman and former politician in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. He has served as leader of the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador from August 14, 2011 until January 3, 2012. Aylward was first elected to the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly in the 1985 Newfoundland general election, 1985 election and served as a cabinet minister in the governments of Clyde Kirby Wells, Clyde Wells, Brian Tobin, Beaton Tulk and Roger Grimes. Aylward did not seek re-election in the 2003 Newfoundland and Labrador general election, 2003 election. The 2003 Newfoundland and Labrador general election was held on October 21, 2003, to elect the 48 members of the 45th General Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador. 2021 Newfoundland And Labrador General Election
The 2021 Newfoundland and Labrador general election was held on March 25, 2021, to elect members of the 50th General Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador. Under the province's fixed election date law, the vote was tentatively scheduled for October 10, 2023, but a caveat in the law mandates that an election must be held within one year of a new Premier assuming office. Premier Furey assumed the role on August 19, 2020, and requested to Lieutenant Governor Judy Foote to issue the writs of election on January 15, 2021. Qalipu Mi'kmaq First Nation Band
The Qalipu First Nation (Pronounced: ha-lee-boo, meaning: Caribou), is a Mi’kmaq band government, created by order-in-council in 2011 pursuant to the Agreement for the Recognition of the Qalipu Mi’kmaq Band. After the band was approved as a First Nation, 100,000 people applied for membership and a total of 23,000 were approved. This band is a landless band based on the island of Newfoundland. The Qalipu First Nation is accepted by the Mi'kmaq Grand Council. In 2018, Qalipu First Nation also was accepted as a member of the Assembly of First Nations.
