Kevin Avard
Kevin A. Avard (born January 25, 1963) (born 1963) is an American politician and a Republican member of the New Hampshire Senate representing District 12 since 2020 and previously between 2014 and 2018. Education Avard studied bible theology at Liberty University. Politics Avard was elected to the New Hampshire Senate in 2014, defeating incumbent Democrat Peggy Gilmour. He also defeated Gilmore in a 2016 rematch to retain his seat. Avard again stood for election to the NH State Senate in 2018, but lost his seat to Democratic candidate Melanie Levesque. From 2010 to 2012 he was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives. Avard also served on the Franklin City Council from 2000 to 2002. New Hampshire Senate
The New Hampshire Senate has been meeting since 1784. It is the upper house of the New Hampshire General Court, alongside the lower New Hampshire House of Representatives. It consists of 24 members representing Senate districts based on population. As of December 2, 2020, there are 14 Republicans and 10 Democrats. It has the fewest members among upper legislative chambers in the United States. History Under the 1776 Constitution, two chambers of the legislature were formed: the House of Assembly and the Council, the predecessors to the modern-day House of Representatives and Senate. The Council was originally elected by the House and was composed of twelve members: five from Rockingham County; two each from Cheshire County, Hillsborough County, and Strafford County; and one from Grafton County. NHPR
New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) is the National Public Radio member network serving the state of New Hampshire. NHPR is based in Concord and operates eight transmitters and six translators covering nearly the whole state, as well as portions of Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine. The network airs NPR news and talk shows on weekdays and a mix of cultural and music programs on weekends. NHPR's news staff of 21 is one of the largest in the state and is the only statewide source of radio news. Franklin, New Hampshire
Franklin is a city in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 8,741, the least of New Hampshire's 13 cities. Franklin includes the village of West Franklin. History Situated at the confluence of the Pemigewasset and Winnipesaukee rivers that form the Merrimack River, the town was settled by Anglo-European colonists in 1764 and originally known as "Pemigewasset Village". It was taken from portions of Salisbury, Andover, Sanbornton and Northfield. The name "Franklin" was adopted in 1820 in honor of statesman and founding father Benjamin Franklin. Water power from the falls on the Winnipesaukee River helped it develop as a mill town. It incorporated as a town in 1828, and then as a city in 1895.
