Ketti Frings (28 February 1909 – 11 February 1981) was an American writer, playwright, and screenwriter who won a Pulitzer Prize in 1958. Biography Early years Born Katherine Hartley in Columbus, Ohio, Frings attended Principia College, began her career as a copywriter, and went on to work as a feature writer for United Press International. Career In 1941 her novel ''Hold Back the Dawn'' was adapted for the screen. The Hold Back the Dawn, resulting movie was directed by Mitchell Leisen and starred Olivia de Havilland and Charles Boyer. She wrote her first Broadway theater, Broadway play, ''Mr. Sycamore'', in 1942. The play featured Lillian Gish and Stuart Erwin in the lead roles. Ekaterina Galanta (born 1890s), often billed as Ketty Galanta, was a Russian dancer, a member of the Ballets Russes. Early life Galanta was born and raised in Petrograd. In 1917 she was described as being 20 or 21 years old. Nikolai Legat was her first ballet teacher. Career Galanta toured in the United States with the Ballets Russes in 1916, with Vaslav Nijinsky, Adolph Bolm, Flore Revalles, Lydia Lopokova, Olga Spessivtseva, and Valentina Kachouba, among others in the company of forty dancers. When the ballet company left the United States, she stayed behind to pursue a solo stage career. She danced at the Metropolitan Opera House in ''Petruschka'' (1916). While she was principal dancer in ''The Wanderer'' in New York in 1917, she was a mentor to American dancer Martha Lorber. In 1918 she was featured as a dancer in the musical ''Chu Chin Chow''. Ketty Gilsoul-Hoppe (5 April 1868 – 15 November 1939) was a Belgian painter who mostly worked in watercolors. Gilsoul-Hoppe was born in Düsseldorf as the daughter of the engraver Edouard Hoppe. She trained in Bisschoffsheim school in Brussels where in 1894 she married the painter Victor Gilsoul. Kayra Sayit (born Ketty Mathé on 13 February 1988) is a French-born Turkish European champion female judoka competing in the +78 kg division. Coming from Saint-Brieuc-de-Mauron in Brittany, she competed for France until her marriage in Turkey in February 2015. She then changed her name from Ketty Mathé to Kayra Sayit, and began to compete for Turkey after acquiring the Turkish citizenship.
