Annie Chambers Ketchum
Annie Chambers Ketchum (religious name, Sister Amabilis; November 8, 1824 – January 27, 1904) was an American educator, lecturer, and writer. She was a member of the New York Academy of Sciences and became a Capitular Tertiary of St. Dominic in her later years. Chambers served as principal of the High School for Girls in Memphis, Tennessee, where she established a girls school. She opened a normal school for advanced pupils in Georgetown, Kentucky. Ketchum did not write for publication previous to the civil war, but her first productions brought instant recognition of her merit and ability. Two volumes of verse and two novels were published by her. Ketchum was the founding editor of ''The Lotus'', a monthly magazine, and she published the textbook, ''Botany for academies and colleges: consisting of plant development and structure from seaweed to clematis''. Robert Glenn Ketchum (born December 1, 1947) is pioneering conservation photographer, recognized by ''Audubon'' magazine as one of 100 people "who shaped the environmental movement in the 20th century.". Life and career Ketchum attended high school at the Webb School of California. He received a B.A. in design from UCLA and a MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 1974. He studied photography under the direction of Edmund Teske and Robert Heinecken. William Ketchum (mayor)
William Ketchum (March 2, 1798 – October 1, 1876) was the 14th Mayor of the City of Buffalo, New York. He served from 1844 to 1845. Biography William Ketchum was born on March 2, 1798 in Bloomfield, New York. He moved to Buffalo in 1819, and became a partner at a merchant house that handled furs and hats. He was one of the founders of the original Bank of Buffalo along with Major Andre Andrews and Hiram Pratt. Ketchum served as a Buffalo Village Trustee prior to the city's incorporation, and later served on the Erie County Board of Supervisors. On March 5, 1844, he ran successfully as the Whig candidate for mayor. He did not run for re-election in 1845. He was later a Republican and a Hindoo, a splinter group of the Republican Party. Thomas Edward Ketchum (known as Black Jack; October 31, 1863 – April 26, 1901) was an American cowboy who later became an outlaw. He was executed in 1901 for attempted train robbery. Richard Ketchum
Richard Ketchum (1773 – November 10, 1845) was a political figure in New Brunswick. He represented York County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1827 to 1830. He was born in Long Island, New York, the son of United Empire Loyalists, James Ketchum and Sarah Burr. Following the end of the American Revolutionary War, his family was evacuated to what became the Province of New Brunswick in 1783. They first settled at Kingston, New Brunswick but later moved to Woodstock. Around 1795, Ketchum married Charlotte Upham. He was defeated by Jedediah Slason in the 1827 election but declared the winner after an appeal. Slason defeated Ketchum in 1830. In 1832, he donated land for a court house and jail so that Upper Woodstock could become the county town for the newly formed Carleton County. Ketchum was a lieutenant colonel in the local militia. Daniel Ketchum (born October 7, 1981) is an American former swimmer and Olympic gold medalist. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, Ketchum earned a gold medal by swimming for the winning U.S. team in the men's 4×200-meter freestyle relay. Ketchum spent two years in Ireland from 1994 to 1996, where he was educated at Villiers School. He swam for the Cincinnati Marlins swim club as an age group swimmer, and later for Sycamore High School in Cincinnati. While swimming for Sycamore High, he won six individual Ohio state swimming championships in 1998, 1999 and 2000—three each in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events. He then attended the University of Michigan, where he swam for the Michigan Wolverines swimming and diving team in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition.
