Kerry Turner
Kerry Turner (born October 16, 1960) is an American composer and horn player. Turner is a recognized name in the horn and brass industry. Turner’s major ensembles with whom he performs include the American Horn Quartet, the Virtuoso Horn Duo, and the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra.Reel, John (2010). Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra
The Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra ( lb, Lëtzebuerger philharmoneschen Orchester, french: Orchestre philharmonique du Luxembourg), abbreviated to OPL, is a symphony orchestra based in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. The orchestra formerly performed at the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg and the Conservatoire de Luxembourg. Its current home is the Philharmonie Luxembourg, a large concert hall opened in 2005 in the Kirchberg quarter in the northeast of the city. History The orchestra was founded in 1933 as the in-house orchestra of RTL Radio, named the ''RTL Grand Symphony Orchestra'' (french: Grand orchestre symphonique de RTL); Henri Pensis was its founder and first music director. Hermann Baumann (musician)
Hermann Baumann (born 1 August 1934) is a German horn player. Biography After starting his musical career as a singer and jazz drummer he switched to horn at the age of 17. He studied with Fritz Huth at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg and then played principal horn in various orchestras for 12 years, including the Dortmunder Philharmoniker and the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra. His career as a soloist started in 1964 when he won first prize in the prestigious ARD International Music Competition in Munich. Since then he has played on many solo and chamber albums, including ''Virtuoso Horn'', released in 2004. He has done pioneering work in Baroque music and also in the revival of performance on the natural horn of the classical period. The International Horn Society (IHS) is an international organization dedicated to players of the horn founded in June 1970 with a goal to promote horn playing, education and fellowship. A community of over 3500 members from 55 countries around the globe, the society aims to bring together horn players, educators, and enthusiasts from around the world to share knowledge and experience.
