Kerry Goulstone
Thomas Richard Kerry Goulstone (5 June 1936 – 29 January 2013) was Dean of St Asaph from 1993 to 2001. Goulstone was born in Llanelli and educated at Llanelli Boys’ Grammar School, St David's College, Lampeter and St Michael's Theological College, Llandaff and ordained in 1960. He began his ordained ministry with curacies in Llanbadarn Fawr and Carmarthen''Who's Who 1996'' (London, A & C Black ) after which he held incumbencies in Solva, Gorslas and Burry Port. Burry Port
Burry Port ( cy, Porth Tywyn) is a port town and community in Carmarthenshire, Wales, on the Loughor estuary (Moryd Llwchwr), to the west of Llanelli and south-east of Kidwelly. Its population was recorded at 5,680 in the 2001 census and 6,156 in the 2011 census, and estimated at 5,998 in 2019. The town has a harbour. It is also where Amelia Earhart landed as the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. Nearby are the Pembrey Burrows sand dune and wetland system, forming a country park, and the Cefn Sidan sands. Its musical heritage includes Burry Port Opera, Male Choir and Burry Port Town Band. Etymology The etymology of the River Burry, from which Burry Port takes its English name, is uncertain. Chris Potter (priest)
Christopher Nicholas Lynden Potter is a retired Anglican priest. Potter was born on 4 October 1949, educated at Haileybury and the University of Leeds and ordained in 1993 after an earlier career as a furniture designer and cabinet maker. He began his ordained ministry as a curate in Flint, after which he was vicar of the grouped parishes of Llanfair DC, Llanelidan, Efenechtyd and Derwen, a post he held until his appointment as Dean of Asaph. Raymond Renowden
Charles Raymond Renowden (known as Raymond; 27 October 1923 – 15 May 2000) was a Welsh Anglican priest and author in the mid-20th century. Renowden was born into an ecclesiastical family. Raymond went to school at Llandyssul Grammar School. He was educated at St David's College Lampeter and then Selwyn College, and Ridley College, Cambridge. At Lampeter, he took a first in theology. He recollected that when he first came to Lampeter many of the facilities were reserved for schoolboys who had been evacuated from Wycliffe College School in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire and were therefore out of bounds for undergraduates. During his time as an undergraduate, he also served in the Home Guard. In 1944 he joined the Army Intelligence Corps; he was posted to India, where he became fluent in Japanese. Gorslas
Gorslas is a village and a community in Carmarthenshire, Wales, located on the A476 road northwest of Cross Hands. The village population at the 2011 census was 4,066. Neighbouring villages are Cefneithin and Penygroes. The community is bordered by the Carmarthenshire communities of Llanarthney, Llanfihangel Aberbythych, Llandybie, Llannon, Pontyberem, and Llanddarog. The community includes the settlements of Drefach, Cwmmawr, Foelgastell, and Cefneithin. Gorslas will have a new primary school, opening on 7th September 2022, a year later than planned following the coronavirus pandemic. The school will be a community based centre with local groups able to make use of it’s facilities. Governance An electoral ward in the same name exists.
