Kermit Blosser Ohio Athletics Hall Of Fame
The Kermit Blosser Ohio Athletics Hall of Fame is the hall of fame for Ohio Bobcats athletes and athletic personnel. Since 1965, selectees to the Hall are inducted during annual ceremonies, including recognition at halftime of a home college football game. Inductees are also honored via display of their portrait and accomplishments in the Hall, located in the university's Convocation Center. Since 2000, the Hall usually names three to five new inductees each year. Kermit Blosser On October 20, 2006, Ohio athletic director Kirby Hocutt announced the renaming of the Ohio Athletics Hall of Fame to the Kermit Blosser Ohio Athletics Hall of Fame. Blosser, born in 1911, competed in football and wrestling at Ohio in the late 1920s and early 1930s. After serving in the military during World War II, he became an assistant coach at Ohio in 1946. Bill Hess
William R. Hess (February 5, 1923 – June 10, 1978) was an American college football coach. He served as the head football coach at Ohio University from 1958 to 1977. In his tenure as head coach for the Ohio Bobcats football team, Hess compiled a 108–91–4 record. He ranked second on Ohio's all-time victories list behind Hall of Famer Don Peden at the time of his retirement, though he has since been passed by Frank Solich. Hess's teams won four Mid-American Conference (MAC) championships (1960, 1963, 1967, and 1968) and won a National Small College Championship in 1960 after having an undefeated season. Hess also led the Bobcats to two bowl games, losing 15–14 to West Texas State in the 1962 Sun Bowl and losing 49–42 to Richmond in the 1968 Tangerine Bowl. Ernest Alexander Kish (February 6, 1918 – December 21, 1993) was an American professional baseball outfielder who played for the 1945 Philadelphia Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). Listed at and , he batted left-handed and threw right-handed. Biography Kish played college baseball and college basketball at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and then played one season of minor league baseball. In 1941, he appeared in 20 games for the Riverside Reds and 38 games for the Mount Airy Graniteers. In those 58 games, he compiled a .259 batting average with five home runs. Defensively, he had a .957 fielding average. Pete Lalich
Peter Todd Lalich (June 23, 1920 – February 1, 2008) was an American professional basketball player. He played for the Cleveland Rebels of the Basketball Association of America (now known as the National Basketball Association). High school career Lalich played basketball for East Technical High School in Cleveland, Ohio, where he captained a championship team in 1938. College career A multi-sport athlete, Lalich played basketball and baseball at Ohio University. Playing the center position, he was a four year starter for the basketball team. Robert Earl Brenly (born February 25, 1954) is an American baseball sportscaster and a former professional baseball player, coach and manager. He played the majority of his Major League Baseball career as a catcher with the San Francisco Giants. After retiring as a player, Brenly worked as a broadcaster with the Chicago Cubs, then as a coach with the Giants, then as a broadcaster for Fox. He was hired to manage the Arizona Diamondbacks for the 2001 season, and won the franchise's only championship his first year, becoming the fourth rookie manager to win a World Series and first since 1961. Walter Luckett
Walter Luckett Jr. is an American former basketball player. Luckett starred at the prep level for Kolbe High School in his hometown of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and played college basketball for the Ohio Bobcats between 1972 and 1975. Following his junior season at Ohio, he declared for the 1975 NBA draft where he was selected by the Detroit Pistons. Nick Lalich (basketball)
Nikola Andrew Lalich (May 8, 1916 – May 11, 2001) was a Serbian American professional basketball player. He played for the Youngstown Bears in the National Basketball League (NBL) during the 1945–46 season. He was a star college basketball player at Ohio University in the 1930s, where he earned a bachelor's degree in industrial arts. Later, Lalich earned a master's degree from Columbia University in New York. His younger brother, Pete Lalich, played four seasons in the NBL and one game in the BAA. Steven Eugene Swisher (born August 9, 1951) is an American former professional baseball player and minor league manager. He played in Major League Baseball as a catcher for the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and San Diego Padres from 1974 to 1982. Swisher was elected to the 1976 National League All-Star team with the Cubs but did not play in the game. He is the father of former MLB first baseman Nick Swisher. Mike Schmidt
Michael Jack Schmidt (born September 27, 1949) is an American former professional baseball third baseman who played his entire 18-season career in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies. Schmidt was a 12-time All-Star and a three-time winner of the National League (NL) Most Valuable Player award (MVP), and he was known for his combination of power hitting and strong defense. As a hitter, he compiled 548 home runs and 1,595 runs batted in (RBIs), and led the NL in home runs eight times and in RBIs four times.
