When Truus is tired of Jan's philandering with other girls, she accepts an offer from a theater agent from the city and leaves Jan and his sister. Marinelli, however, struggles with financial difficulties and Jan and Annie are soon fired, ending up at the same theatre as Truus. August Kiehl
August Theodoor Cornelis Kiehl (26 October 1854 – 23 November 1938), also known as Guus Kiehl, was a Dutch actor, director and playwright. He is best known for his successful career as an actor in operetta, operetta theatre, his original operetta De Parel van Zaandam (''The Pearl of Zaandam'') and his performances in several Dutch films in the 1930s. Biography Kiehl came from a family of actors; his parents H.G. Kiehl and Sophie Sablairolles were stage actors in The Hague. After several failed attempts at becoming a sailor, a cook and a cigar shop clerk and a disastrous audition at the conservatory in The Hague, Kiehl finally made his stage debut as La Flèche in Molière's ''The Miser'' on 21 February 1875 at the company of his cousin Valois. Soon after he moved to Amsterdam, where he joined the company of Gustave Prot and Frans P. Kistemaker. Wim Kan
Willem Cornelis "Wim" Kan (15 January 1911 – 8 September 1983) was a Dutch cabaret artist. Together with Toon Hermans and Wim Sonneveld, he is considered to be one of the Great Three of Dutch cabaret. In 1936, he established the ABC Cabaret, which soon became one of the most successful Dutch cabaret groups, in which several artists debuted who later became famous. In 1940, the ABC Cabaret was touring the Dutch East Indies, and because of the German invasion could not return to the Netherlands. After the Japanese conquest of the Dutch East Indies, he was deported to camps at the Burma Railway. Because of his experiences at these camps he later agitated against Hirohito's visit to the Netherlands in 1971. Wim Kan is possibly best known as the originator of the tradition of the so-called " Oudejaarsconferences". Hendrik Nikolaas Theodoor "Heintje" Simons (born 12 August 1955) in Heerlen, later known as Hein Simons, is a Dutch schlager singer and actor. Background Heintje was born the son of a coal miner who had to retire because of silicosis, reducing the family to near poverty. The family opened a small café where Heintje used to sing along with the jukebox. When he was 11, he entered a local singing contest. He beat 30 competitors to win the contest. Producer Addy Kleijngeld heard about him and went to audition him at his home. After hearing only a few notes, he took him on as a client and became his manager. Upon becoming wealthy, Heintje moved his family back to his father's birthplace, Neu Moresnet, Kelmis, Liège, Belgium.
