Kerk Choo Ting
Dato' Seri Kerk Kim Tim @ Kerk Choo Ting (died 22 May 2018) was a former Taiping Member of Parliament and deputy president of the Malaysian People's Movement Party (Gerakan). He was also the former Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry and a Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based on Malaysia and Agriculture Agro-Based Industry II before being replaced by Mah Siew Keong. His ministry was led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the time. In the 1970s, Kerk served as legal counsel of a Chinese independent high school association. In the 1982 Malaysian state election, Kerk stood as Gerakan candidate on a Chinese educationalist platform. On May 22, 2018, Dato' Seri Kerk Choo Ting died. Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong (; Hokchew BUC: ''Má Siù-Khhíong''; born 17 June 1961) is a Malaysian politician who served as Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Najib Razak from June 2014 to the collapse of the BN administration in May 2018, Member of Parliament (MP) for Teluk Intan from November 1999 to March 2008 and again from May 2014 to May 2018 and Member of the Perak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Pasir Bedamar from April 1995 to November 1999. Malaysian Democratic Party
The Malaysian Democratic Party (MDP, ms, Parti Demokratik Malaysia) was a political party in Malaysia formed by Wee Choo Keong in 1998, after he was expelled from Democratic Action Party (DAP) due to his fall-out and failed revolt against then secretary-general Lim Kit Siang. MDP contested both the 1999 and 2004 general elections but failed to win any seats. Wee himself, who was the party secretary-general, even lost his deposit after contesting the Bukit Bintang parliamentary seat in 2004. He later entered the 2008 general elections on the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) ticket and won. Since then, MDP has become inactive even though Wee was dropped for the 2013 general elections.
