Ugolny Airport
Ugolny Airport (russian: Аэропорт Угольный) (also Leninka, Ugolnyye Kopi, Ugolnoye) is a mixed-use military and civil airfield in the Russian Far East located 11 km east of Anadyr, separated from the town by the waters of Anadyrsky Liman. The airfield was originally constructed in the 1950s as a staging base for Long Range Aviation bombers such as the Tupolev Tu-95 and Tupolev Tu-22M. During the Cold War years it became the primary hub for civilian flights in the Chukotka region. In May 2019, the airport was named in honor of the Chukchi writer Yuri Rytkheu. Civilian history The Soviet-built Ilyushin Il-62 was a workhorse of the route from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to Anadyr for many decades. Pevek Airport
Pevek Airport (russian: Аэропорт Певек) is a civilian airport located 15 km northeast of Pevek. It is located on the coast of East Siberian Sea and is one of the few airports in Russia on the polar route capable of handling aircraft as large as Boeing 767 and, in case of emergency, even larger planes. It mainly services medium-sized airliners. Its use for military operations is unknown but the runway and facilities are adequate for interceptor operations. The airfield elevation is given either as 13 or 14 meters according to various Department of Defense navigation charts. Kyrganay Range
The Kyrganay Range (russian: хребет Кырганай or хребет Кыргонай) is a range of mountains in Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Russian Far East. Administratively the range is part of Bilibino District. The village of Keperveyem is located at the feet of the range in its western end. Bilibino is located about further to the north.
