Allison Ball
Allison Ball (born August 27, 1981) is an American attorney and politician who serves as the Kentucky State Treasurer. She is a member of the Republican Party. Early years and career Ball is a ninth-generation Eastern Kentuckian. Her family has resided in Eastern Kentucky since the 1790s. She is the daughter of Ron and Amy Ball and has a younger brother, Jonathan. Ball earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law. She worked for the personal injury law firm Vanover, Hall & Bartley. She served for four years as an Assistant Floyd County Attorney prosecuting child abuse and juvenile delinquency cases. Ball was elected state treasurer in the 2015 elections, defeating Rick Nelson. She was reelected in 2019. James "Honest Dick" Tate
James William "Honest Dick" Tate (January 2, 1831 – unknown (after 1890{?]) was the Kentucky State Treasurer. He was nicknamed "Honest Dick" because of his good reputation and rapport with his colleagues. The nickname turned ironic, however, when Tate absconded with nearly a quarter of a million dollars from the state's treasury in 1888. He was never found. Tate's thievery was frequently cited during Kentucky's fourth constitutional convention as a reason to impose term limits on Kentucky's elected officials. The one-term limit remained in force on most of Kentucky's officials until the state's constitution was amended in 1992 to allow the governor, lieutenant governor, state treasurer and other state officeholders to serve two consecutive terms. Emma Guy Cromwell (September 28, 1865 – July 19, 1952) was a suffragist, women's rights activist, and early female Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party politician from Kentucky in the United States.
