Kentucky Route 43 (KY 43) is a state highway in Kentucky that runs from BUS KY 55 and Boone Station Road northeast of Shelbyville to U.S. Route 421 (US 421) southeast of Pleasureville. Route description KY 43 begins at an intersection with KY 55 Bus./ KY 2268 in Shelbyville, Shelby County, heading to the east on two-lane undivided Cropper Road. The road passes through a mix of farmland and woodland with some homes, running to the north of a R.J. Corman Railroad line. The route curves northeast and intersects the western terminus of KY 1005. KY 43 passes through more rural areas while paralleling the railroad tracks, turning north and east before coming to the western terminus of KY 12. Here, the route turns north to remain on Cropper Road, passing through more agricultural areas with some woods. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is Kentucky's state-funded agency charged with building and maintaining federal highways and Kentucky state highways, as well as regulating other transportation related issues. The Transportation Cabinet is led by the Kentucky Secretary of Transportation, who is appointed by the governor of Kentucky. The current Secretary is Jim Gray, who was appointed by Democratic Governor Andy Beshear. As of October 2012, KYTC maintains of roadways in the state. Shelby County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 48,065. Its county seat is Shelbyville. The county was founded in 1792 and named for Isaac Shelby, the first Governor of Kentucky. Shelby County is part of the Louisville/Jefferson County, KY– IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Kentucky Route 55
Kentucky Route 55 (KY 55) is a state highway in the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky. The route originates at a junction with U.S. Route 127 in Freedom, Russell County. The route continues through Columbia in Adair County to U.S. Route 68 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, where KY 55 joins US 68 east to Lebanon in Marion County. In Lebanon, KY 55 separates from US 68 and proceeds northward through Springfield in Washington County, Bloomfield in Nelson County, and Taylorsville and Elk Creek in Spencer County. In Shelby County it passes through Finchville and Shelbyville and continues north through Eminence in Henry County. Roughly three miles south of New Castle, KY 55 intersects U.S. Route 421. Kentucky Route 12 (KY 12) is a State Highway located in Shelby and Franklin counties, in the northern region of the U.S. state of Kentucky. The highway is approximately long, and travels from an intersection with KY 43 in Shelby County to the Franklin–Henry county line. Parts of the route have existed since c. 1939, and the rest of the highway has existed since c. 1988. Route description KY 12 begins at a junction with KY 43 near Christianburg and travels east toward Bagdad passing through a rural area of mostly farmland.
