Kent Bancroft
Screams for Tina was an American death rock and gothic rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1985 by Warren Mansfield (vocals, bass, keyboards) and Marvin Rinnig (guitar). History The duo of Mansfield and Rinnig recorded a five-song 12-inch EP, ''Strobelight Funeral'', released in 1986 on their own Dark Illusion Records label. English bassist Billy Budd and local drummer Bobbi Drier joined in 1987, and the band became regular performers at LA clubs such as Scream, The Roxy and the Whisky a Go Go. In 1988, ''L.A. Weekly'' held a citywide Rock Music Awards poll, and Screams for Tina placed in the Top 5 of the Best New Band and Best Underground Band categories, as well as in the Top 10 for Independent Album.L.A Weekly: January to April 1988 In 1990, Rinning was replaced by Kent Bancroft (Like Wreckage, Spahn Ranch). Death rock (or deathrock) is a rock music subgenre incorporating horror elements and gothic theatrics. Gothic Rock
Gothic rock (also called goth rock or simply goth) is a style of rock music that emerged from post-punk in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s. The first post-punk bands which shifted toward dark music with gothic overtones include Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Bauhaus, and the Cure. The genre itself was defined as a separate movement from post-punk. Gothic rock stood out due to its darker sound, with the use of primarily minor or bass chords, reverb, dark arrangements, or dramatic and melancholic melodies, having inspirations in gothic literature allied with themes such as sadness, nihilism, dark romanticism, tragedy, melancholy and morbidity. These themes are often approached poetically. The sensibilities of the genre led the lyrics to represent the evil of the century and the romantic idealization of death and the supernatural imagination. Scream (music Club)
Scream was an underground music club in Los Angeles, CA from the mid-80s and into the 90s focusing on glam rock, death rock and industrial rock. Founded by Dayle Gloria, the "Queen of the Sunset Strip" and Michael Stewart, Scream hosted many of the larger rock bands, such as Guns N' Roses, Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sisters of Mercy, 45 Grave, TSOL (True Sounds of Liberty) and Human Drama. It was considered one of the more influential clubs/outlets in L.A./Hollywood due to the signing of many of its of local musical group bookings to major label record companies and its hosting of many of the larger touring acts of the goth/industrial scene. The Roxy Theatre
The Roxy Theatre (often just the Roxy) is a nightclub on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California, owned by Lou Adler and his son, Nic. History The Roxy was opened on September 23, 1973, by Elmer Valentine and Lou Adler, along with original partners David Geffen, Elliot Roberts and Peter Asher. They took over the building previously occupied by a strip club owned by Chuck Landis called the Largo.
