Kenneth Benjamin (judge)
Kenneth Andrew Charles Benjamin (born 19 March 1955) is a Caribbean jurist. A multiple citizenship, dual national of Guyana and Antigua and Barbuda, he served as Chief Justice of Belize from 15 September 2011 to 20 March 2020. Career Benjamin was born on 19 March 1955 in Georgetown, Guyana. In 1980 and 1981, Benjamin served as a magistrate in Georgetown, Guyana. He went on to serve as Assistant Judge Advocate for the Guyana Defence Force. From 1988, he continued his work as a judge in Antigua, including from 1991 to 1993 as Chief Magistrate of Antigua. Following that, he was named as a judge of the High Court of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. In this capacity he served in Montserrat and the British Virgin Islands in the succeeding years. From 2002 to 2007, Benjamin's position as ECSC High Court Judge took him to Grenada; he was succeeded there by Francis Cumberbatch. Samuel Lungole Awich is a Commonwealth jurist, whose career has taken him from his native Uganda to Botswana, the Solomon Islands, and for the past decade Belize. Career Early career Awich began his legal career as a state counsel in Botswana in 1976, and sat on the bench as a Senior Magistrate in 1980, Principal Magistrate in 1981, Acting Registrar and Master of the High Court in 1983, and Deputy Registrar in 1989. He held those positions until 1993, when he went into private practice with Kgodi and Partners. In 1994 he moved to the Solomon Islands, where he became the Registrar of the High Court and the Court of Appeal. Abdulai Conteh
Abdulai Osman Conteh (born 5 August 1945) is a lawyer and politician from Sierra Leone. He is a former vice president of Sierra Leone, who served under President Joseph Saidu Momoh before he was ousted by the military junta in 1992. Conteh later spent a considerable number of years in Belize, where he served as the country's chief justice before returning to Sierra Leone. Early life and education Dr Conteh was born on 5 August 1945 in the village of Rogbere, Gbinleh Dixon Chiefdom in Kambia District, British Sierra Leone. He is from Sierra Leone's Susu ethnic group, which is predominantly based in the north-eastern part of the country - especially Kambia.
