Kenner Gutiérrez
Kenner Gutiérrez Cerdas (born 9 June 1989) is a Costa Rican professional footballer. Career He played for Costa Rica at the 2017 Copa Centroamericana and the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He was named among the standby players for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and was later called up to replace the injured Rónald Matarrita. On July 1, 2020, after Liga Deportiva Alajuelense failed to win the league for the 13th consecutive time, it was announced that Gutiérrez would not have his contract renewed, after pressure from fans demanding the team let go of long-time players to make room for new ones. Liga Deportiva Alajuelense
Liga Deportiva Alajuelense (LDA, ), commonly known as Alajuelense and nicknamed La Liga (), is a Costa Rican multisport club based in the borough of El Llano, Alajuela, Alajuela province. Although they compete in a number of different sports, Alajuelense is mostly known for its association football team. It plays in the Primera División de Costa Rica, the top tier of the Football in Costa Rica, Costa Rican football league system. ''Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala'' (National Football League of Guatemala), formerly known as Liga Mayor "A" (Major League "A") is a professional football division in Guatemala, the highest one in the country. The Primera División of Costa Rica, commonly known as Fútbol de Primera División (FPD), and Liga Promerica for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional association football division in Costa Rica. It is administered by the Unión de Clubes de Fútbol de la Primera División (UNAFUT). The league consists of 12 teams, with the last-placed team relegated to the Liga de Ascenso. The league was founded in 1921, with Herediano crowned as the first champions. Saprissa is the most successful club having won the championship a record 37 times. Together with Alajuelense (30 titles) and Herediano (29 titles), they have dominated the league. 2019–20 Liga FPD
The 2019–20 Liga FPD season, also known as Liga Promérica for sponsorship reasons, is the 99th season since its establishment. The tournament is divided into two championships, the Apertura and Clausura, each in an identical format and each contested by 12 teams. The Voit Loxus is the official match ball of the tournament. San Carlos are the defending champions, after defeating Saprissa in the Clausura 2019 tournament. Teams and Structure Changes A total of 12 teams will contest the league, including 11 sides from the 2018–19 season, one team promoted from the Liga de Ascenso. Jicaral were promoted for the first time to the Liga FPD after defeating Guanacasteca in the Liga de Ascenso final, thus replacing Carmelita in the Liga FPD.
