Kennedy Award (journalism)
The Kennedy Awards, also known as the NRMA Kennedy Awards, are Australian awards for journalism based in Sydney, New South Wales, run by the Kennedy Foundation, and named in honour of Indigenous Australian journalist Les Kennedy, who died in 2011. there are 34 categories in the annual event, with the main prize being The Kennedy Prize – Journalist of the Year, while a Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded each year as well. History Commencing in 2012, named in honour of Indigenous journalist Les Kennedy (1958–2011) in the year after his death, the intention was to stage an event in NSW equivalent to journalism awards in other Australian states and territories, states and territories. Peter Frilingos
Peter Frilingos (1944–2004) was a sports journalist and commentator, best known for his work as a rugby league writer. His reporting methods and integrity came under severe scrutiny during the Super League war. While he originally supported the ARL, he began openly endorsing Super League after a closed door meeting with News Limited management. This led to him being branded News Limited's "Chief Toady" by Media Watch. ''Nine News'' (stylised ''9News'') is the national news service of the Nine Network in Australia. Its flagship program is the hour-long 6:00 pm state bulletin, produced by Nine's owned-and-operated stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin. National bulletins also air on weekday mornings, weekend afternoons and most nights of the week after 10:30pm. Chris O'Keefe (born 4 July 1981) is an Australian journalist. He is best known for his work with Nine Entertainment, as a reporter for '' Nine News'', and as a presenter for Nine Radio's Sydney station 2GB. Career O'Keefe began his career in 2008 with an internship at ''St George and Sutherland Shire Leader'' before moving to television in 2010 as a reporter for ''Ten News'' on the Gold Coast. Caro Meldrum-Hanna is an Australian investigative journalist. Meldrum-Hanna is best known for her work with ABC Television's ''Four Corners'' program. ABC Television is the general name for the national television services of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Until an organisational restructure in 2017/2018, ABC Television was also the name of a division of the ABC.
