Kendal Daniels (born December 16, 2002) is an American football Safety (gridiron football position), safety for the Oklahoma State Cowboys football, Oklahoma State Cowboys. High school career Daniels attended Beggs High School in Beggs, Oklahoma. He originally played basketball for Beggs, before joining the football team as a sophomore where played wide receiver and safety, leading the team to state semifinal appearances in his junior and senior seasons. Daniels made the 2021 All-American Bowl (high school football), All-American Bowl, although the game was not played due to COVID-19. Coming out of high school Daniels was ranked the nations 5th ranked safety recruit, and the top recruit in the state of Oklahoma. Despite being a highly rated prospect, the Oklahoma Sooners football, Oklahoma Sooners would rescind his offer late in the recruiting process. Safety is a position in gridiron football on the American football positions#Defense, defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. While American (11-player) formations generally use two safeties, Canadian (12-player) formations generally have one safety and two Halfback (Canadian football), defensive halfbacks, a position not used in the American game.
