Kenai Central High School (KCHS) is a public high school serving grades 9–12 in Kenai, Alaska. The school operates under the authority of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, and is one of five high schools in the district. The School's mascot is the Kardinal, and its colors are red, white and black. The current principal is Dan Beck, and its assistant principal is Will Chervenak. Kenai (, ) ( Dena'ina: ; russian: Кенай, ''Kenay'') is a city in the Kenai Peninsula Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. It is one hundred and fifty-eight miles by road southwest from Anchorage. The population was 7,424 as of the 2020 census, up from 7,100 in 2010, the fifteenth-most populated city in the state. History The city of Kenai is named after the local Dena'ina word 'ken' or 'kena', which means 'flat, meadow, open area with few trees; base, low ridge', according to the Dena'ina Topical Dictionary by James Kari, Ph.D., published in 2007. This describes the area along the mouth and portion of the Kenai River near the City of Kenai. Allie Ostrander
Allison "Allie" Ostrander (born December 24, 1996) is an American long-distance runner from Soldotna, Alaska. The repeat NCAA Division I steeplechase champion in 2017, 2018 and 2019, she competed for the Boise State University Broncos. In July 2019, Ostrander announced her plans to forgo her final season of NCAA eligibility and begin running professionally. Personal life Ostrander was born in Kenai, Alaska in 1996, the daughter of Teri and Paul Ostrander. She has an older sister, Taylor, who was a top middle distance, steeplechase and cross country runner for Kenai Central High School and at the NCAA Division III Willamette University, where she had a best steeple time of 10:40:06 as a sophomore in 2014. Kelly Wolf
Kelly J. Wolf (born August 3, 1961) is an American politician from the state of Alaska. He served in the Alaska House of Representatives from 2003 until 2005. Biography Wolf was born in 1961 in Longview, Washington, moving to Alaska in 1975, graduating from Kenai Central High School in 1979. He worked as a contractor and carpenter, and was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2002 as a Republican, defeating Hal Smalley. Wolf did not run for reelection in 2004, but ran in 2008 as an independent, placing third. Wolf was elected to the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly in 2012, and was subject to an unsuccessful recall effort in January 2015, before being defeated in his 2015 bid for reelection.
