Ken Wilson (rugby League)
Ken Wilson (24 November 1951 – 22 December 2022), nicknamed ''Squeaker'', was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. Career Wilson was a skillful halfback or five-eighth, despite lacking pace, but is best remembered as one of rugby league's greatest goal kickers. Wilson came from an Australian Rules background to be graded by the Newtown club in 1970, and played four seasons with Newtown between 1970 and 1974. Ken was a product of the Marrickville De La Salle College and the Addison Royals (Marrickville) junior rugby league club. Wilson only gradually established in first grade – in a famous match he was the point-scorer with a field goal for the only 1–0 scoreline (against St. George in 1973) – thirteen seconds after coming onto the field. In 1976 Wilson moved to the Penrith Panthers for three seasons. Brian Moore (rugby League)
Brian "Chicka" Moore (19 April 1944 – 26 October 2014) was an Australian rugby league footballer and coach. Playing career Moore played in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership for Newtown from 1962 to 1973 - scoring 90 tries during his long and successful career. He represented New South Wales in 1963, 1965 and 1970. He also represented Australia, touring Great Britain and France with the 1967/68 Kangaroos, playing 11 minor tour matches but no tests. During the 1970s Moore captain-coached in the Newcastle Rugby League with the Macquarie United club. Bobby Keyes (rugby League)
Robert John Keyes (18 December 1942 – 8 September 2022) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s. Playing career Keyes was an Easts junior who played five first grade games with Eastern Suburbs 1960–61 then signed with Newtown. Keyes joined Newtown in 1962 and formed a long-standing and successful centre partnership with Brian 'Chicka' Moore until he retired in 1970. Keyes also captained Newtown during his career and was also a representative player with New South Wales in 1964. Bobby Whitton
Bobby Whitton (1932-2008) was an Australian rugby league player who played in the 1950s. Playing career Whitton was born James Albert Whitton, was a favourite son of Newtown rugby league club over many years. Whitton played ten straight seasons with Newtown between 1951 and 1960. He played halfback in the 1954 Grand Final and the 1955 Grand Final and captained the Newtown club on many occasions until his retirement in 1960. Whitton represented New South Wales in three different series: 1954, 1956 and 1959. He left Sydney football in 1961 to take up the role of captain-coach of Wauchope R.L.F.C. He played over 170 games from Newtown during his career, and scored 34 tries. Frank Farrell (rugby League)
Francis Michael "Bumper" Farrell (16 September 1917 – 23 April 1985) was an Australian premiership winning and international representative rugby league footballer. A prop forward, his long club career with the Newtown Bluebags was from 1938 to 1951 with four Test appearances for the Australian national side between 1946 and 1948. Outside of football he was a policeman in the New South Wales force; he rose through the ranks and was stationed in Sydney's tough inner-city suburbs, where he earned a reputation as a feared and revered detective in the Vice Squad. Early life Farrell was the great-grandson of an Irish convict named Patrick Farrell who was transported to Sydney in 1837 for stealing a pig.
