Ken Shadie
Kenneth George Shadie (8 December 1935 – 29 June 2020) was an Australian screenwriter, who co-wrote the Academy Award-nominated screenplay for the film ''Crocodile Dundee'' with Paul Hogan and John Cornell. Biography Shadie was born in the Sydney suburb of Bondi and raised in Lane Cove. He was the son of Albert Nicholas Shadie, who was of Lebanese Christian descent, and Edith (née Rayner) from Manchester, England. From 1964 to 1968, he was chief writer and script editor of ''The Mavis Bramston Show''. He worked on its follow up ''News Revue''. In 1974, he was a script writer for the soap opera ''Number 96''. In the late 1970s he was writing a revue for Ron Frazer. This was seen by Paul Hogan who loved the writing and asked to meet Shadie. They two of them started writing together on ''The Paul Hogan Show''. The Paul Hogan Show
''The Paul Hogan Show'' was a popular Australian comedy show which aired on Australian television from 1973 until 1984 for a total of 12 seasons and 60 episodes. It made a star of Paul Hogan, who later appeared in ''Crocodile Dundee.'' Hogan's friend (and producer of ''Crocodile Dundee'') John Cornell also appeared in the show, playing Hogan's dim flatmate Strop. Premise Episodes of the series generally opened with Hogan, playing a version of himself he called 'Hoges', presenting a stand-up comedy routine dressed in his bridge rigger's costume of boots, shorts, and shirt with sleeves cut off. The show then presented a series of comedy sketches, usually with Hogan in the lead role and playing various recurring characters. It was established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on the advice of the Australian Government. Ron Frazer (7 December 1928 – 8 January 1983) alternatively Ron Fraser, was an Australian actor, comedian and screenwriter, he was known for roles in theatre and television, primarily as a character actor. Career Fraser started his career in 1948 in theatre locally, before moving to London, England working in repertory in the West End, and even appearing briefly in a film, greeting Good afternoon to Elizabeth Taylor. Having came back to Australia, He began in stage revue and wrote many skits and gags for the satirical comedy series ''The Mavis Bramston Show'', before joining the cast as a regular member in 1966, in various roles including the character ''Ocker''; Frazer is credited with neologising the Australian slang term "ocker". In another regular routine Frazer performed in the Bramston show, he used the catchphrase "my second-best friend", and this also gained wide currency at the time.
