Ken Sears (baseball)
Kenneth Eugene Sears (July 6, 1917 – July 17, 1968) was an American professional baseball catcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) during the and seasons. He played with the New York Yankees and the St. Louis Browns. He had a .282 career batting average in 67 career games and batted left and threw right-handed. He played college baseball at the University of Alabama. He played in the minor leagues for 8 seasons with the Amsterdam Rugmakers, Norfolk Tars, Newark Bears, Kansas City Blues, San Antonio Missions, Little Rock Travelers and Borger Gassers. Sears was the son of Ziggy Sears John William "Ziggy" Sears (January 10, 1892 – December 16, 1956) was a professional baseball umpire who worked in the National League from 1934 to 1945. Catcher is a Baseball positions, position in baseball and softball. When a Batter (baseball), batter takes their at bat, turn to hit, the catcher crouches behind home plate, in front of the (home plate, home) Umpire (baseball), umpire, and receives the ball from the pitcher. Little Rock Travelers
The Little Rock Travelers were an American minor league baseball team located in Little Rock, Arkansas, and members (1902–1910, 1915–1958, 1960–1961) of the Southern Association, which as a Class A, A1 or Double-A (baseball), Double-A circuit was typically two rungs below Major League Baseball. When farm systems came into being in the 1930s, the Travelers were at different times affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Red Sox, Boston Braves (baseball), Boston Braves, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Athletics, and Baltimore Orioles. After attracting fewer than 68,000 paying customers over a 77-game home schedule in 1958, the Travelers moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1959 as the Shreveport Sports.
