Ken Pears
Ken Pears (12 April 1934 – 18 December 2022) is a former Canadian soccer goalkeeper. He was a four-time national champion with Westminster Royals FC (1953), Vancouver Hale-Co FC (1956), Vancouver Columbus FC (1964), and Vancouver Firefighters FC (1965). He was Canada's starting goalkeeper during FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in 1957. He is an honoured member of the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural class in 2000. In the Pacific Coast League, Pears won seven championships with three clubs: five times with Firefighters (1954–55, 1961–62, 1963–64, 1964–65, 1965–66), once with Westminster Royals FC (1952–53), and once with Hale-Co FC (1958). From 1952 to 1966, he was a British Columbia or Mainland All-Star in 13 of 15 seasons. He notably posted a clean sheet against Tottenham Hotspur in a 2–0 win in Vancouver on 3 June 1957. Pacific Coast Soccer League (1908-73)
The Pacific Coast Soccer League is an amateur soccer league, currently featuring teams from British Columbia. In the past clubs from Washington and Oregon have competed. PCSL is considered to be British Columbia's premier summer league. The league winners are not eligible for any higher cup competitions; however, most players participate in a winter league, such as the VMSL, VISL or FVSL, where teams do participate in BC Provincial Cup qualification. The league has a short, 2.5-month summer season. The league is considered to be a 4th tier competition next to USL League 2. The PCSL comprises elite football players, including ex-pros from Europe and North America, or NCAA or U Sports players and others looking to become professional footballers, or maintain fitness. The Western Canada Soccer League was a soccer league in Canada. The league operated for eight seasons over a nine-year period from 1963 to 1971 and eventually operated across nine cities in four Canadian provinces and one American state. In the 1960s, the Western Canada Soccer League was one of four major leagues in Canadian soccer alongside the Pacific Coast League, the National Soccer League of Ontario/Quebec, and the Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League. In 1963, the league featured 10 clubs across five cities in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Bill Gill (footballer)
Bill Gill (born April 15, 1919, date of death unknown) was a Canadian soccer goalkeeper. He was a member of the Montreal Stelco squad who won the national title in 1952. In 1952, the year he led Stelco to the national title over Westminster Royals FC, Gill won the McLagan Trophy as Montreal's most valuable player. In 1953, he joined Montréal Hakoah FC and led his new club to the Canadian final, but this time lost the three-game series to Westminster.
