Ken McKenzie Trophy
The Ken McKenzie Trophy was awarded annually to the Central Hockey League's leading points scorer in the regular season. The award was named for Ken McKenzie, the co-founder and longtime president and publisher of ''The Hockey News''. Previously, the award was used by the Central Hockey League (1963-84) as their rookie of the year award, as selected by the CHL coaches. It was known simply as the Rookie of the Year award until the 1977-78 season. Central Hockey League
The Central Hockey League (CHL) was a North American mid-level minor professional ice hockey league which operated from 1992 until 2014. It was founded by Ray Miron and Bill Levins and later sold to Global Entertainment Corporation, which operated the league from 2000 to 2013, at which point it was purchased by the individual franchise owners. As of the end of its final season in 2014, three of the 30 National Hockey League teams had affiliations with the CHL: the Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Several teams of defunct leagues joined the CHL along its history, including the Southern Hockey League, Western Professional Hockey League and International Hockey League. After two teams suspended operations during the 2014 offseason, the ECHL accepted the remaining seven teams as members in October 2014, meaning the end for the CHL after 22 seasons. Mike Veisor
Michael David Veisor, Sr. (born August 25, 1952) is a Canadian former ice hockey goaltender. He played 139 games in the National Hockey League between 1973 and 1984. He was described as: "One of the most agile goaltenders around; plays goal like a trapeze artist." Biography Veisor was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and is Jewish. As a youth, he played in the 1963 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Toronto. He was drafted in Round 3 (#45 overall) in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. He started his National Hockey League career with the Chicago Black Hawks in 1973. He was the second Jewish goalie in NHL history. He had wanted to be the first, but he was preceded by Ross Brooks. He also played for the Hartford Whalers and Winnipeg Jets. He retired after the 1984 season. Veisor currently works at Avon Old Farms School, in Avon, Connecticut, and is the rink manager. Michael James Murphy (born 20 October 1941) is an Irish broadcaster, actor and property developer. He is best known for his long broadcasting career with RTÉ, presenting many TV shows such as ''The Live Mike'', ''Winning Streak'' and '' The Big Interview''. Early life Murphy was born in Dublin on 20 October 1941. He was the eldest of five children born to Ned and Kitty Murphy. He was educated at St. Louis National School, Terenure College, Synge Street CBS and Coláiste Mhuire. Early career Murphy worked as a draper in a Dublin drapery shop, before finding a job with the Castrol Oil Company. André Dupont
André Dupont (born July 27, 1949) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played 13 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues, Philadelphia Flyers and Quebec Nordiques. He won back-to-back Stanley Cups while a member of Philadelphia's "Broad Street Bullies" teams in the mid-1970s. He also is often referred to by his nickname, "Moose". Steve Atkinson
Steven John Atkinson (October 16, 1948 – May 6, 2003) was a Canadian ice hockey player who played the positions of centre and right wing. He played in both the National Hockey League and World Hockey Association from 1969 to 1976. Early life Atkinson was born in Toronto, Ontario, but grew up in Barrie, Ontario. Guided by Hap Emms in Barrie, Emms would bring Atkinson along with him when he moved the Flyers from Barrie to Niagara Falls. On April 26, 1968, he scored the winning goal in Game 8 to eliminate the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL Championship Series on the way to a Flyers Memorial Cup title. Atkinson had 19 goals in 29 playoff games that year. Career Originally drafted in 1966 by the Boston Bruins, after the Bruins acquired the pick from the Detroit Red Wings in February 1966.
