Ken Cheuvront
Kenneth David Cheuvront (born May 11, 1961, in Phoenix, Arizona) is a Democratic politician. From 2003 to 2011 he served as Arizona State Senator for District 15, which centers on Phoenix. In 2018 he was elected Justice of the Peace in central Phoenix. He is also owner of Cheuvront Construction Inc and Cheuvront Wine Bar. Earlier he was elected to represent the 15th district in the State House of Representatives in 1994, becoming the first openly gay man elected to the Arizona House of Representatives, and held the seat until he was termed out in 2002. He was the Democratic Leader in that chamber in the 2001–02 session. In 2002, he was elected to represent the district in the State Senate, winning the general election by a margin of 63% to 37%. He had previously run for the Senate in 1990, winning 44% of the primary election vote but losing to Chuck Blanchard. He won re-election in 2004 with 65% of the vote and in 2006 with 69%. Robert Meza
Robert Meza is an American politician from Phoenix, Arizona who served as a member of the Arizona House of Representatives from District 30 from 2019 to 2023. He previously served in the Arizona State Senate from 2011 to 2019, and also served four prior terms in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2003 to 2011. Before studying at the University of Notre Dame, Meza attended Bourgade Catholic High School in Phoenix. After graduating from the university, Meza spent seven years in the banking industry, where he worked on small and commercial loans. A Democrat, he represents the reliably Democratic 30th legislative district which covers parts of central and west Phoenix and part of Glendale, Arizona. Democratic Leadership Council
The Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) was founded in 1985 and closed in 2011. Founded and directed by Al From, prominent members include Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton (who was elected president in 1992 and 1996), Delaware Senator Joe Biden (elected president in 2020), and Tennessee Senator Al Gore (who very narrowly lost the 2000 presidential election). The DLC argued that the United States Democratic Party should shift away from the leftward turn it took in the late 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. One of its main purposes was to win back white middle class voters with ideas that addressed their concerns. The DLC hailed the election and reelection of Bill Clinton as proof of the viability of Third Way politicians and as a DLC success story. It was a non-profit 501(c)(4) corporation. Matthew G. Heinz (born June 6, 1977) is an American doctor and politician. A Democrat, he was appointed by President Barack Obama in June 2013 as Director of Provider Outreach in the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs, a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Heinz was tasked with helping Secretary Kathleen Sebelius with the roll-out of the Affordable Care Act, with one aspect of his job to work with LGBT organizations across the country as they inform their members of their options in each state.
