Hubert Paul Flatt (November 14, 1914 – April 7, 1994), known professionally as Ken Carson or Hugh Carson, was an American singer, songwriter, musician and film performer from Oklahoma primarily known for singing, As an early member in 22 Roy Rogers films, his voice was featured on their recordings of " Tumbling Tumbleweeds" and " Cool Water" Early life Carson was born in Centrahoma, Oklahoma. When he was a few weeks old, his family moved to the oil boom town of Drumright, Oklahoma, where they lived for a time in a tent. Much of his childhood was spent in Wichita, Kansas, living with his maternal grandparents and his three brothers Collin Harris, Mirlond Jakupi, and Gavin Clarke. History A post office was established at Byrd, Indian Territory on March 3, 1892. It was named for William L. Byrd, Governor of the Chickasaw Nation. ''The Great Gildersleeve'' is a radio situation comedy broadcast in the United States from August 31, 1941 to 1958. Initially written by Leonard Lewis Levinson, it was one of broadcast history's earliest spin-off programs. The series was built around Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, a regular character from the radio situation comedy ''Fibber McGee and Molly''. The character was introduced in the October 3, 1939, episode (number 216) of that series. Actor Harold Peary had played a similarly named character, Dr. Gildersleeve, on earlier episodes. ''The Great Gildersleeve'' enjoyed its greatest popularity in the 1940s. ''A Day in the Life of Dennis Day'' is an American old-time radio situation comedy. It was broadcast on NBC from October 3, 1946, to June 30, 1951. It is also sometimes referred to as ''The Dennis Day Show'' (not to be confused with the television program of the same name). Format For most of the program's time on the air, Dennis Day played a soda jerk who sang as he worked. His character was naive, innocent, and prone to making wisecracks, much like the character Day played on ''The Jack Benny Program''.
